The Role

Overview of Position

Reporting to the VP, Finance Transformation, the AVP, Finance Transformation is instrumental in driving and executing process improvements and automation initiatives. This individual will identify, design and implement processes, execute and lead change management activities across the Assurant enterprise Finance organization that will improve operational efficiency. The AVP, Finance Transformation will partner with functional leaders in Finance, IT and other SME’s to developing architecture requirements, process improvement plans, implementation programs and automation efforts to achieve the organization's goals.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job? 

  • Develop strategic plans that align with the organization’s vision and long-term goals.

  • Lead cross-functional teams to identify, prioritize and implement opportunities for process automation and efficiency improvements within finance operations to deliver on strategic goals.

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of finance optimization and multiple automation projects.

  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to align optimization and automation initiatives with organizational objectives.  

  • Drive the implementation of cutting-edge technologies, such as robotic process automation (RPA), artificial intelligence (AI), and data analytics, to streamline end-to-end financial processes and improve effectiveness of controls.

  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure seamless integration of finance systems and technologies, improving data quality, and optimizing data flow and information exchange.

  • Lead the design and implementation of standardized finance processes and procedures to promote consistency and scalability across the organization.  Take an active role in evaluating significant business events (system implementation, M&A, new clients, etc.) and ensuring appropriate processes and controls are established.

  • Provide guidance and support to finance teams globally and partner with various stakeholders to communicate progress, solicit feedback, and drive alignment on finance transformation initiatives.  

  • Create and lead a high performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and accountability.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess the effectiveness of finance transformation efforts and make data-driven decisions.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in finance transformation, incorporating learnings into the organization's strategy.

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Management Information System or related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting/finance/finance systems, with at least 5 years in a management role.

Other Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of finance processes and systems, accounting principles, and internal controls.

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills. 

  • Proven expertise in process optimization, automation, and change management within a global finance function.

  • Demonstrated track record of successfully leading large-scale technology implementations, preferably in the finance domain.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and motivate teams across geographies and functions.

  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset and a focus on driving continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and make data-driven decisions.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively manage competing priorities and stakeholders.

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Management Information System or related field preferred.

  • CPA license preferred.

  • Experience with Alteryx, Oracle cloud systems, Blackline, Microsoft Power BI, and Power Automate preferred.   

Pay Range:

$141,400.00 - $236,100.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
