DUTIES: SCOR Global Life Americas Reinsurance Company seeks AVP Actuary - Risk Management in Charlotte, NC, to establish enterprise risk management governance processes and controls. Analyze, quantify, assess and recommend mitigating factors for risks inherent in new business opportunities. Assist in prioritizing research projects. Communicate risk governance goals, highlight implementation risk and strategies for mitigation. Ensure buy-in to plans from key stakeholders (including product line management, pricing committee, SGLA corporate).
Participate in technical risk analytics projects. Ensure governance processes are followed in a timely fashion. Identify project risk and manage implementation hurdles early. Assist production of Risk Dashboards. Drive completion of ORSA/CISSA for regulated entities, including challenging management’s models and assumptions. Provide actuarial expertise in development of regulatory guidelines and reports including ORSA. Maintain understanding of significant knowledge field including mortality experience analytics, or offshore reinsurance solutions. Demonstrate critical appraisal and audit skills in significant Risk and Return areas including mortality, persistency, US GAAP, IFRS, Solvency II and Statutory, Risk Based Capital, and risk mitigation strategies
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Actuarial Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
- and eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or in a related occupation:
- applying actuarial skill set to determine reasonability of cashflow projections and understand financial results;
- applying business and risk knowledge to assess deals referred to Life Risk; contributing actuarial and business expertise to support analysis of mortality risks;
- leading preparation of enterprise‑level risk assessments of life and health insurance operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and timely submission; designing and producing reports, including key risk indicators, for local, group and senior management;
- developing and reporting quantitative key risk indicators to monitor claims experience, management actions, and emerging exposures within life and health reinsurance portfolios; monitoring and reporting risk trends using quantitative data analysis and structured stakeholder inputs, requiring application of regulatory knowledge;
- conducting independent actuarial risk reviews, with documented assessment of material risks and mitigation actions for governance and senior management challenge.
