Job Description:
We’re actively seeking a talented AVP Actuary, Annuity Pricing to join our Annuity Product Development team in Newport Beach, CA, Omaha, NE, or Charlotte, NC. This role follows a hybrid schedule of four days in the office (on-site). If you are not currently located near one of our offices, we offer comprehensive relocation assistance. Remote candidates will be considered depending on experience.
As an AVP Actuary, Annuity Pricing, you will co-lead pricing and product strategy initiatives for our annuity business, delivering retirement solutions to our clients. In this role, you will evaluate market opportunities, identify risks, and assess the profitability of new and existing offerings within the Consumer Markets Division's annuity portfolio. This position plays a key role in bringing annuity solutions to market, from concept through launch, while supporting the division's growth objectives.
The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of the annuity landscape and end-to-end product lifecycle, including pricing, filing, and launch activities. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach will help a candidate stand out.
You will lead a team of pricing actuaries, develop innovative solutions that address evolving customer and market needs, and ensure offerings achieve an appropriate balance of customer value, profitability, and risk management. In addition, you will guide initiatives through the Product and Risk Governance processes.
How you’ll help move us forward:
Lead and develop a team of pricing actuaries to assess product opportunities in a rapidly changing economic, regulatory, and competitive environment
Actively engage in the development of new products and the enhancement of existing products
Evaluate and enhance the annuity pricing framework, with focus on enabling understanding of multiple accounting regimes and pricing metrics
Design products with an eye on adaptability to changing competitive, regulatory, and economic environments
Secure product approvals through pricing and risk committees
Lead product filing efforts in conjunction with our Compliance team
Create transparency within the division and enterprise around pricing results, including methodologies and assumptions used and sensitivity testing
Collaborate with Risk Management and Finance to identify risk management tools to manage our product suite, and appropriately incorporate into pricing
Champion innovation and modernization initiatives, leveraging emerging technologies, including AI and advanced analytics, to enhance pricing capabilities, streamline processes, improve team productivity, and accelerate speed to market.
The experience you bring:
10+ years of actuarial experience
FSA designation, including 3 years of actuarial experience post FSA designation
Deep knowledge of annuity products, product features, pricing methodologies, and market dynamics, with the ability to identify emerging opportunities and develop innovative product solutions
Experience leading products through the full product development lifecycle, including pricing, risk assessment, governance, regulatory filing, implementation, and launch
Strong financial acumen, including expertise in Statutory, GAAP, and economic reporting frameworks, capital markets, and the ability to evaluate and communicate key drivers of profitability, risk, and value creation
Proven people leadership experience with a track record of coaching, developing, and mentoring actuarial talent while building a high-performing, collaborative team environment
Strong technical and analytical capabilities, including the ability to solve complex business problems and translate actuarial insights into actionable recommendations
Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to establish credibility across the enterprise and effectively engage leaders across Product, Sales, Risk Management, Finance, and Investments
Demonstrated strategic mindset with the ability to establish a long-term vision, drive change, challenge the status quo, and execute against evolving business priorities
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple initiatives while adapting to changing market conditions and organizational needs
Salary Range: $230,000 - $255,000
Base Pay Range:
The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
