POSITION SUMMARY

The Automation Test Engineer (ATE) Supervisor is responsible for leading the ATE staff to drive Test Uptime, Machine enhancements, Managing controls projects, and working with operations on scheduled work. The role supports high-power testing activities for large-scale electrical power systems, including UPS, PDU, STS, and Energy Storage Solutions. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant testing operations while driving continuous improvement through Lean principles, 5S, and strong collaboration with Engineering, Operations, and Facilities teams.

This position will be based onsite at our Delaware, OH location & a 1st Shift position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervising and assist with any Programming, Controls & Hardware Projects.
  • Plan, manage, and execute projects that support high-power test activities for large UPS systems, PDUs, STSs, and energy storage solutions.
  • Define and maintain test procedures, acceptance criteria, and documentation for functional, performance, and load testing.
  • Oversee the use, configuration, and maintenance associated with test equipment.
  • Troubleshooting complex electrical and system-level issues during testing and startup.

SAFETY & COMPLIANCE

  • Lead all testing activities with an uncompromising focus on safety, ensuring compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NEC, and company safety standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments, job safety analyses (JSAs), and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures for high-energy systems.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through training, audits, and continuous reinforcement.

LEAN 5S & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

  • Implement and sustain 5S standards within test areas to ensure organization, efficiency, and safety.
  • Apply Lean principles to improve test flow, reduce waste, increase throughput, and improve first-pass yield.
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives related to test efficiency, quality, and cost.

CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION

  • Partner closely with Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Program Management to align projects that meet the design intent in Test.
  • Engage with Facilities teams to plan power availability, cooling, space layout, grounding, and infrastructure needs for high-power testing.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) by developing scalable and repeatable test strategies.

TEAM LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT

  • Lead, mentor, and develop ATEs, MEs and technicians in high-power testing best practices.
  • Establish clear expectations, training plans, and performance metrics for the ATE team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and technical excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in high-power electrical systems testing; management or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of large UPS systems, PDUs, STSs, and/or energy storage systems.
  • Controls experience, VBA programming, Networking & Schematics.
  • Hands-on experience with load banks and high-current, high-voltage test environments.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing 5S and Lean principles in an engineering or manufacturing setting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in data center, critical power, or mission-critical infrastructure environments.
  • Familiarity with relevant standards (UL, IEC, IEEE).
  • Experience with WinPM, WinCC, Siemens PLCs, LabVIEW/ TestStand programming, documentation, AutoCAD, procedures, instrument calibration, Microsoft Office
