We are looking
for an AUS Senior Management Accountant to manage day-to-day financial
operations, maintain accurate accounting records, and support the preparation
and analysis of financial reports. The ideal candidate should have experience
using Xero, a strong understanding of financial reporting, and the ability to
collaborate with senior leaders to monitor business performance and
profitability. This role is critical for ensuring accurate financial management,
supporting informed decision-making, and maintaining efficient accounting
processes within a construction environment.
What You’ll Do
- Manage daily accounting activities,
including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations, and
financial record keeping.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual
financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Assist in the preparation, analysis, and
ongoing monitoring of profit and loss (P&L) statements alongside senior leadership.
- Process and reconcile accounts payable,
accounts receivable, bank accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Maintain accurate financial data within XEROero and support the transition to a Work in Progress (WIP) accounting system, learning and applying
new processes as required.
- Monitor project costs, revenue recognition,
and work-in-progress balances to support accurate financial reporting within a construction
environment.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash
flow monitoring, and financial analysis to support business performance.
- Prepare supporting schedules and
documentation for audits, tax requirements, and statutory reporting.
- Identify process improvement opportunities
to enhance accounting efficiency, reporting accuracy, and internal controls.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to
resolve financial discrepancies and provide timely accounting support.
Requirements
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in
Accountancy, Accounting Technology, or Management Accounting is preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in
accounting, including experience within the Australian construction industry.
- Proficiency in XERO accounting
software.
- Experience working with or
supporting Work in Progress (WIP) accounting processes, or the willingness and ability
to quickly learn new accounting systems.
- Strong understanding of
financial reporting, general accounting principles, and profit and loss
(P&L) management.
- Experience preparing financial
reconciliations, month-end closing activities, and management reports.
- Knowledge of construction
accounting principles, including project costing and work-in-progress
reporting.
- High level of accuracy,
analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time
management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal
communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders and
cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft
Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and financial data analysis.
- Ability to maintain
confidentiality while exercising sound professional judgment and
problem-solving skills.
