Purpose and Job Summary
ORIX USA is seeking an Associate for the Special Asset (workout/restructuring) team in Dallas, Texas. The investment professional will be an integral part of the team, responsible for a wide variety of tasks, including financial analysis and modeling, investment monitoring, preparing comprehensive and insightful restructuring memoranda, and coordinating legal review and documentation for deal closings. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to work on debt and equity investments across multiple lines of business. Positions span numerous industries and primarily consist of senior secured loans, second-lien debt, mezzanine debt, and equities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive credit analysis to evaluate capital structures, company fundamentals, cash flow, and industry trends on an ongoing basis

Construct and maintain financial cash flow models and valuation analyses

Work with ORIX Special Asset portfolio companies, including monitoring performance, attending board meetings, and providing timely updates to senior executives on developing credit situations

Prepare term sheets, credit applications, and other documentation required for approval by the investment committee and executive management

Prepare quarterly investment and watchlist reports for senior management’s review
Contacts
This position has frequent contact with all levels of employees and management. In addition, this role may interact with outside business partners, vendors, consultants, and other office visitors.
Education, Skills & Experience

Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related subject; completion or progress towards an MBA or CFA preferred

3 to 5 (Associate) years of underwriting, portfolio management, and/or workout experience at an investment or large commercial bank with completion of a formal credit training program

In-depth understanding of credit, including a firm understanding of related documentation

Strong accounting, valuation, and financial modeling skills

Keen ability to construct concise, persuasive verbal and written investment/restructuring memoranda

Superior analytical, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills

Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize assignments, and to meet critical and established deadlines

Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously without constant supervision

High proficiency in Microsoft Office: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Ability to travel, as needed, sometimes with short notice
