Overview

The purpose of this role is to deploy adaptive agile governance and practices that improve the way in which development works, deliver projects with higher quality, ensure projects are managed effectively and provide a higher level of visibility and collaboration across the organization.


This is a remote role in the US.


Responsibilities

High-level:

  • Communicate and coordinate with other management, developers, product managers and technical support specialists.
  • Must be a "team-player" with the ability to work within a collaborative environment.
  • Must be able to work with multiple agile teams.
  • Supports Team building and Team development by utilizing the abilities and skills of individuals, and fostering a Feedback culture.
  • Must be able to work with geographically distributed teams.
  • Must have expertise on scrum and knowledge of other agile methodologies like XP, Kanban etc.

Support the Agile process:

  • Organize and facilitate backlog planning, daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, iteration and release planning, demos and other Agile-related meetings.
  • Track and communicate team velocity, iteration/release progress, impediments.
  • Maintain process documentation as needed.
  • Ensure the development teams are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility.
  • Understand backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, and task definition.
  • Familiarity with common Agile practices, service-oriented environments, and better development practices.

Support the Product Owner:

  • Assist as needed with product backlog refinements.
  • Coach Product Owners in best practice of writing user stories.
  • Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
  • Facilitate prioritization and resolution of defects/bugs.

Support the Development Team:

  • Assist team with making appropriate commitments through story selection, task definition.
  • Participate proactively in developing and maintaining team standards, tools, and best practices.
  • Identify and remove impediments, prevent distractions.
  • Facilitate discussion and conflict resolution.
  • Help the team to manage capacity between development and maintenance.
  • Empower the team to self-organize.


Qualifications

Academic and Professional Qualifications:

  • BS in engineering, computer science, MBA or equivalent experience
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) required.
  • PMP certification a plus
  • SAFe certification/experience a plus


Experience:

  • Three plus years project management experience in software development.
  • Must have Certified Scrum Master (CSM) with 1+ years of Scrum Master experience.
  • Expertise on scrum and knowledge of other agile methodologies such as XP, Kanban etc.
  • Knowledge of agile tools like TFS, Rally, version one, Jira etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse personality types.
  • Thorough understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle.
  • Must be 'self-motivated' as well as creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Must be able to ensure Agile/Scrum concepts and principles are followed.
  • Must possess strong negotiation skills with the ability to facilitate discussion and facilitate alternatives or different approaches.


Travel Requirements:

  • May require travel for business needs.


Working Arrangements:

  • Work is performed in a remote environment with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.
