Job Description

Purpose of the role:

Reporting to the Managing Partner of Private Equity, the role offers the opportunity to assist with proprietary investing and private equity activities. This includes performing various aspects of due diligence in the execution of potential investment and management of existing assets. The Associate will be responsible for performing various research, financial analysis, modelling and presentation functions in order to support the development of investment strategies and identify attractive transaction opportunities. This role will also be responsible for executing due diligence across various sectors in which the Private Equity team invests.

The role requires strong financial analysis, modelling, due diligence and presentation skills, together with the agility to work across offices globally. Given the lean team structure and selective transaction pace, the successful candidate will be proactive, resourceful and committed to developing independently through live assignments and collaboration across the wider platform.

Responsible for:

  • Assisting in targeting and evaluating new investment opportunities;

  • Assessing potential investments through financial modelling and company / industry research:

- Translating data, research and diligence findings into model inputs

- Building tax, accounting and debt schedules into detailed asset models

- Ensuring appropriate operational and capital structure sensitivities;

- Ability to tackle more complex financial models under the guidance of seniors;

  • Planning and completion of due diligence tasks including:-

- Asset risk evaluation

- Cash flow analysis

- Precedent transactions and comparable company analysis

- Market comparisons and operational benchmarking;

  • Researching industry opportunities to identify and assess impact of key value drivers on a transaction and business assumptions;

  • Working with operational teams and advisors to progress due diligence and asset management-related analysis;

  • Coordinating and assisting operational teams with various corporate development transactions

  • Assisting with preparation of high-quality investment committee presentation materials and other supporting documentation in a clear and concise manner;

  • Monitoring and assisting in the management of existing portfolio companies;

  • Contributing to a flexible, dynamic, and team-oriented working culture that fosters personal development and a positive attitude; and

  • Participate in special projects as required

Qualifications/Experience/Skills

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, business, accounting or a related discipline;

  • Typically two to three years of relevant investment banking experience, ideally within a top-tier global investment bank

  • Strong transaction execution experience across M&A, financial analysis, valuation and corporate finance;

  • Experience and training gained in a major international financial market is preferred;

  • Experience supporting global funds or working within an integrated global investment platform is preferred to experience limited solely to a regional fund structure;

  • Fluency in English is essential. Professional Korean language capability is strongly preferred; Japanese language capability is also advantageous;

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
