At MSCI, data is at the core of everything we do. We are looking for a Associate Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to support and modernize our mission-critical enterprise databases that power global financial products and analytics.
This role requires deep expertise in Oracle DBA administration, performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery, OCI Cloud, large-scale project implementations, migrations, upgrades, and modernization initiatives and strong ownership of database operations, with readiness to support cloud and AI-driven transformation initiatives.
Your Key ResponsibilitiesDatabase Administration & Operations
- Perform end-to-end Oracle DBA administration including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and decommissioning.
- Manage production, non-production, and DR environments with high availability and performance.
- Handle database operations, monitoring, and 24x7 operational support as required.
- Ensure database security, compliance, and best practices.
Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting
- Perform advanced performance tuning using AWR, ASH, SQL Trace, and OEM.
- Analyze execution plans, identify bottlenecks, and implement plan stability techniques.
- Develop and maintain performance tuning scripts and automation.
- Proactively troubleshoot database issues and provide root cause analysis (RCA).
High Availability & Disaster Recovery
- Design, implement, and support Oracle Data Guard (Physical & Logical Standby).
- Perform switchover/failover operations and DR drills.
- Manage RMAN backups, recovery, and restore strategies.
- Ensure RPO/RTO compliance and DR readiness.
Cloud & Modernization
- Administer Oracle databases on OCI or Azure (Cloud Infrastructure)
- Support on-prem to cloud migrations, hybrid environments, and cloud-native architectures.
Security & Advanced Features
- Implement and manage Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).
- Utilize Advanced Compression and other Oracle features for performance and storage optimization.
- Apply database security patches and vulnerability remediation.
Project Implementation & Migration
- Support database projects including:
- New database implementations
- Version upgrades
- Platform migrations
- Consolidation initiatives
- Work closely with application teams, infrastructure, and cloud teams during project execution.
- Provide technical documentation and knowledge transfer.
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in Oracle Database Administration (19c and above).
- Hands-on experience with:
- Performance tuning (AWR, ASH, SQL tuning)
- Oracle Data Guard & Standby
- RMAN backup and recovery
- Database migration and upgrades
- Basic experience in scripting (Shell, SQL, PL/SQL) for automation and monitoring.
- Strong knowledge of patching strategies and lifecycle management.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
- Ability to lead critical incidents and mentor junior DBAs.
- Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
