Associate / Managing Associate (bengoshi), Mainstream Corporate

Our Corporate team specialises in cross-border corporate transactions, including merger and acquisitions, private equity transactions, joint ventures and corporate venture capital, and advises on a mix of corporate strategic transactions and financial sponsor deals across Asia, Europe and more globally.  

At Linklaters, we are looking for a curious minded and enthusiastic Associate/Managing Associate (bengoshi) with a cross border M&A focus, to be a part of our international Corporate team, based in Tokyo. Reporting to the Partners, in this role, you will be involved in the full range of corporate M&A matters, including advising corporates and financial sponsors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Draft and review documentation, demonstrate familiarity with precedents and market standards
• Provide commercial legal advice to the client
• Supervise juniors in the team
• Network with clients to capitalise on new business opportunities

Key Requirements:

• Excellent academic credentials
• Admitted in Japan (a bengoshi)
• Seniority – a junior or a senior/managing associate level
• Experience within a top tier firm would have an added advantage
• Japanese and English language skills essential
• Strong networking and organizational skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• To succeed in this role, you should be a team player that is focused on cross border M&A and interested in working on mark-leading transactions
