KBR is seeking an early-career Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) / Learning & Development Specialist to support the development, maintenance, and delivery of training programs for a mission-focused customer in the national security community. This role is ideal for recent college graduates or individuals with relevant training, education, instructional design, teaching, or workforce development experience who are interested in building a career in learning and development.  This role requires a current/active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance for consideration. 

Working alongside experienced instructional designers and subject matter experts, the selected candidate will help create engaging learning solutions, develop training materials, and support the delivery of instructor-led, virtual, and web-based learning programs.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in the design, development, and revision of training curricula, lesson plans, learning objectives, presentations, and participant materials. 

  • Support the development of instructor-led training, virtual instructor-led training, web-based training, and other learning solutions. 

  • Collaborate with senior instructional designers and subject matter experts to gather content and translate technical information into effective learning experiences. 

  • Help create job aids, reference guides, exercises, assessments, and evaluation tools. 

  • Maintain and update existing course materials to ensure accuracy, relevance, and alignment with customer requirements. 

  • Support training needs analysis efforts and data collection activities. 

  • Participate in quality assurance reviews of course content and training materials. 

  • Assist with training delivery logistics, classroom preparation, and learner support activities when required. 

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of learning programs based on learner feedback and evaluation results. 

  • Learn and apply instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles in support of course development efforts. 

Basic Compensation: 

$82,000 - $102,000 USD annually 

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Location: On-site

Required Qualifications: 

  • Must possess a current/active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph. 

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning & Development, Educational Technology, Communications, Human Resources Development, Psychology, Business, STEM discipline, or a related field. 

  • 6 months to 2 years of relevant professional, internship, military, training, or teaching experience. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines. 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. 

  • Demonstrated interest in learning and development, instructional design, or workforce training. 

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Internship, academic project, military, or professional experience developing training materials or presentations. 

  • Familiarity with adult learning principles or instructional design models such as ADDIE. 

  • Exposure to eLearning development tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, or similar platforms. 

  • Experience facilitating training, tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or coaching. 

  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS). 

  • Knowledge of accessibility standards such as Section 508. 

  • Desire to grow into a professional instructional design or learning and development career path.
