The Role

The Fund & Mandate Compliance Associate, Operations is a key role within the Fund & Mandate Compliance team (F&MC) at IFM. The F&MC team is responsible for the development, implementation and on-going administration of the operational compliance programs for all IFM’s mandates and Funds including open-ended and closed ended funds (‘the Funds”) and ensuring compliance with mandates and regulatory requirements and written policies and procedures. 

The Associate, Fund & Mandate Compliance, assists, as directed or supervised by the Associate Director F&MC, in the development, implementation and on-going administration provision of non-investment services to the operational compliance programs for all IFM’s mandates and Funds including open-ended and closed-ended funds (“the Funds”), and ensuring compliance with Funds’ guidelines, regulatory requirements and written policies and procedures. 

The Associate will:

• Drive or assist in the development of a framework to capture IFM Operations’ obligations to Investors/clients as reflected in applicable documentation

   

• Lead or participate in project work as required to improve processes and procedures as they pertain to investment compliance and integrate into Operations and IFM more broadly

   

• Review Fund source documentation to ensure that investment rules are capable of being monitored in Aladdin (working closely with the front office and other teams)

   

• Actively contribute to the training and development of team members to ensure the continued uplift of the team’s skills

   

• Lead or assist in the identification of emerging risks, trends and developments in investment compliance as they impact the Funds specifically and IFM’s obligations across multiple jurisdictions more generally

   

• Perform and oversee daily pre and post trade monitoring on Aladdin across a range of asset classes

   

• Identify and investigate breaches, and work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure they are appropriately reported and remediated

   

• Think ‘outside the box’ to devise ways to manage and monitor complex guidelines and bespoke mandates that are not capable of being monitored in standard compliance systems

   

• Work closely within and across functions (e.g. front office; IT) to address data and trade compliance issues

Further, the role will provide support across the broader Global Operations team for activity associated with new mandates and products.
 

Your Background and Experience

• 4+ years investment compliance experience, gained across one or more of equities, debt, infrastructure and/or private equity asset classes.

   

• Solid understanding of investment compliance principles and frameworks as they apply to financial instruments in listed equities and debt (required), and infrastructure and private debt (preferred)

   

• Tertiary qualifications in law, commerce, economics, finance or related field with governance qualifications or experience an advantage

   

• Must be able to build and maintain strong relationships and consult with individuals at all levels

   

• Intermediate level Microsoft Excel skills (preferred)
