Our Opportunity
Chewy is seeking an Associate Director, Finance to support our Dog and Cat Consumables business, based in Plantation, FL! This role is the senior financial and strategic partner to our Dog Consumables merchandising teams (Dog Wet Food, Dog Dry Food, and Dog Treats), while also leading Consumables-wide vendor funding (rebates) and AVN finance support.
This leader will lead all aspects of multiple category P&Ls and own the strategy and execution of vendor funding programs, including Straight Pays, sponsored ads, and Autoship funding that directly impact customer value and business profitability. You will play a critical role in shaping financial outcomes by partnering closely with Merchandising and cross-functional teams to drive growth, optimize investments, and improve decision-making through data.
At Chewy, we believe in ownership and accountability and value creativity. We are makers and doers who thrive on the desire to drive results. We approach our mission to provide the best service and customer experience anywhere with a dogged determination and a cheerful disposition. Sure, we work hard, but we have fun, too - especially when your work directly impacts millions of pet parents and their pets.
What You'll Do
  • Serve as the senior finance partner to Dog Consumables leadership, influencing business strategy, investment decisions, and performance outcomes.
  • Translate business strategies into financial plans, including forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning.
  • Oversee multiple category P&Ls, ensuring strong financial performance, controllership, and alignment to targets.
  • Lead weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting (WBR/MBR/QBR), including clear variance analysis, risks, and opportunities.
  • Own Consumables-wide rebate strategy, including Straight Pays, sponsored ads, Autoship funding, and other vendor-funded programs.
  • Partner with Merchandising and vendor teams to support negotiations and establish data-driven funding targets.
  • Build mechanisms to track, forecast, and optimize rebate realization, proactively identifying gaps and opportunities.
  • Lead AVN finance support, including planning, tracking, and evaluating ROI of vendor-funded initiatives.
  • Develop financial models to evaluate assortment, pricing, promotions, and strategic investments.
  • Conduct deep-dive and ad hoc analyses to diagnose performance and inform decision-making.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment with Finance, Merchandising, Marketing, Supply Chain, Product, and Accounting to ensure one set of financials.
  • Lead and develop a team, setting clear expectations, coaching performance, and building scalable processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement in reporting, forecasting, and analytical processes through simplification and automation.
  • Operate effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment while balancing short-term execution with long-term strategy.

What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field required; MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in Finance (FP&A, Strategic Finance, Corporate Finance, or similar).
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience managing high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, P&L management, and GAAP principles.
  • Deep experience in forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and financial modeling.
  • Experience supporting retail, e-commerce, or category-based businesses preferred.
  • Experience with vendor funding, trade spend, or commercial finance concepts strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; experience with SQL or similar tools required.
  • Experience with FP&A systems (e.g., Hyperion) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to distill complex financial concepts for senior leaders.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive data-informed decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop talent, and scale team performance.
  • High ownership mindset with a bias for action and ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Get
  • A place where you can be your authentic self and grow your career. Our pet parents and partners come from everywhere and so do our Chewtopians.
  • A high-impact role with visibility into one of Chewy's largest and most dynamic businesses, where your work directly influences strategy and results.
  • The opportunity to partner with talented, cross-functional teams and leaders to solve complex problems and drive meaningful outcomes.
  • A culture that values ownership, curiosity, and continuous improvement, where you are empowered to think big and deliver results.
  • Support for your development through mentorship, feedback, and opportunities to grow your leadership and technical skills.
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and wellness programs to support you inside and outside of work.
