The Role
You keep the programme running: the plan, the record, the follow-ups and the documents. You work across both workstreams and you are the person who knows where everything stands. You are given defined pieces of work and you are expected to run them without being chased.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Maintain the programme plan and the record of decisions. Every action logged with an owner and a date, and the record accurate at the end of each week.
- Prepare the counterpart meetings: the agenda, the material, the notes afterwards, and the follow-ups until they are closed.
- Draft the reports the counterpart and the funder receive, working from what the team gives you.
- Organise field visits and training sessions end to end, and go on them.
- Pull together the data the team needs: usage figures, field observations, and what the department's own systems say.
- Keep the document set current and findable.
Qualifications and Competencies
- One to three years in programme management, consulting, research or a development organisation.
- You have kept a plan or a record that other people relied on.
- You write clearly and quickly. We will ask for a writing sample.
- You are comfortable in a government office and in the field.
- Hindi, and willingness to travel 30 percent.
Also useful, though we will not screen on it
- Experience of rural development or livelihoods programmes.
- Basic data work in spreadsheets or Python.
- One other Indian language.
Additional Requirements
- This position requires successful completion of a reference check and employment verification.
- The successful candidate must not be subject to employment restrictions from a former employer, such as a non-compete, that would prevent performance of the responsibilities described.
- Candidates must declare any current or recent engagement with a government, multilateral or development finance institution that could present a conflict of interest.
