A Brief Overview
This role is a key contributor and emerging leader within a dynamic financial reporting and analysis team. The successful candidate will build strong partnerships across actuarial, ALM, finance, risk, investment, and operational functions while collaborating with colleagues across global offices. The position offers broad exposure to RGA's global life and annuity reinsurance portfolio and supports a wide range of actuarial and financial initiatives, including valuation and financial reporting, corporate planning, economic capital analysis, risk reporting, value measures, model enhancement, and process improvement. The role also contributes to the development, governance, and ongoing enhancement of the company's Scenario-Based Approach (SBA) and Asset Liability Management (ALM) frameworks. The successful candidate will apply actuarial, financial, and risk management expertise to support business decision-making, financial reporting, capital management, and strategic initiatives across the organization.
What you will do

  • Serve as a technical resource to develop, implement, validate, maintain, and enhance actuarial valuation models and reporting infrastructure, including support for the company’s SBA/ALM frameworks.
  • Perform and analyze US GAAP and Bermuda Economic Balance Sheet (EBS) valuation results for life and annuity reinsurance, including capital metrics, value measures, financial planning projections, and key drivers of earnings and balance sheet performance.
  • Support assumption management activities, including experience studies, assumption reviews, updates, and related governance processes.
  • Maintain and enhance actuarial governance, documentation, processes, procedures, and controls to support a robust valuation and financial reporting framework.
  • Partner with business units and cross-functional stakeholders to improve valuation methodologies, financial reporting, and actuarial analysis.
  • Support strategic, departmental, and cross-functional projects, including ad hoc actuarial and financial analyses.
  • Remain current on actuarial developments, regulatory requirements, and industry trends relevant to life and annuity reinsurance.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field required
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or equivalent actuarial designation e.g. FIA, FASSA etc.
  • 6+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance and/or reinsurance
  • Advanced technical skills, including experience with databases (SQL, Oracle, Access, or equivalent), spreadsheets, actuarial modeling software (AXIS, Prophet, or equivalent), and analytical tools
  • Advanced understanding of insurance financial reporting, valuation frameworks, and analysis techniques
  • Advanced understanding of actuarial assumptions, experience studies, and assumption-setting methodologies

Preferred: 

  • Reinsurance industry and product knowledge e.g. life, health, and annuity products
  • Experience with US GAAP Long-Duration Targeted Improvements (LDTI) and/or IFRS 17
  • Advanced experience with Prophet, including the Asset Liability Strategy (ALS), US 360, US NA, GAAP, and/or cohort libraries
  • Experience with the Bermuda Economic Balance Sheet (EBS), including the Scenario-Based Approach (SBA) and Bermuda Solvency Capital Requirement (BSCR)

Preferred: 

  • Advanced project management skills, demonstrating an ability to leverage various resources and tools to reach a common goal
  • Intermediate ability to use data visualization/workflow tools, such as Tableau and Alteryx
  • Familiarity with life insurance company financial statements

Skills Required
