Position Summary:

The Assistant Site Supervisor is responsible for managing, overseeing and ensuring the daily operations of the sites and its staff and is visible to staff and guides daily workflow. The Assistant Site Supervisor is responsible for maintaining broad knowledge of accessioning, specimen fixation, processing, and pathology related procedures. The Assistant Site Supervisor interacts extensively with physicians, patients, and hospital staff as well as company staff. The Assistant Site Supervisor will travel between hospital and company sites with regularity and frequency. It is crucial that the Assistant Site Supervisor is knowledgeable about HIPAA, CAP, DOH and CLIA regulations. The Assistant Site Supervisor practices and enforces all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) procedures as this position is exposed to a great number of environmental hazards.

Position ScheduleThis position requires flexibility to cover if there is a shortage among the team. Typical hours are M-F, 9AM - 5:30PM, but can possibly work between the hours of 7AM - 6:30PM (within a 8 hour shift). 

Travel is required at least once a month to all noted hospitals to train new Pathology Technicians.

Essential Duties:

  • Manages all aspects of staffing for direct reports, including but not limited to hiring, scheduling, timecards, budgeting and performance reviews
  • Mentors, trains and coaches staff
  • Manage daily site staff operations including troubleshooting and equipment maintenance
  • Assists Supervisor in managing and facilitating onsite CAP/DOH inspections
  • Ensures regulatory compliance at all locations
  • Provides specimen test requirement information to physicians and medical staff and converses with clinic and hospital contacts to ensure efficient specimen collection practices are in place
  • Designs and implements department specific training program
  • Implements processes, procedures, and process improvement projects
  • Functions as key trainer for direct reports in adherence to policies and procedures
  • Maintains and ensures employees' productivity and work quality
  • Provides backup assistance to Pathology Technicians and Support Staff
  • Works on special projects as assigned by Supervisor
  • Conducts department quality control
  • Splits time appropriately between sites
  • Flexibility with scheduled working hours
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Experience:

  • High school diploma minimum
  • 2+ years of medical/clinical management experience preferred
  • Pathology experience preferred
  • Driver's License and reliable transportation required
