We’re looking for an Assistant Quarry Manager to join our team at Fernhill Quarry. This is a hands-on role with real variety. You’ll support the Quarry Manager with the day-to-day running of the site while also staying close to the action on the ground.
This isn’t a role for someone who wants to sit back and supervise from a distance. You’ll help keep the quarry running smoothly, step in on machinery when needed, cover breaks, support the crew, and help make sure safety, production, and quality standards are met. It’s Good Work with high expectations, low ego, and plenty of room to grow.
Ngā tino kawenga mahi | Key role responsibilities
Support The Quarry Manager with the daily operation of Fernhill Quarry.
Help Coordinate site activities to keep production moving safely and efficiently.
Step Into operational duties, including operating machinery when needed and covering team breaks.
Work Alongside the crew to maintain a safe, productive, and well-organised site.
Monitor Day-to-day performance, plant use, and site requirements.
Help Drive strong safety, quality, and environmental standards across the quarry.
Build Positive working relationships with the team and contribute to a flat, low ego culture.
Assist With planning, problem solving, and keeping the site running well when priorities shift.

A or B Grade Quarry Manager Qualification (current) or working towards qualification.
Class 1, 2, 4 licences and WTR’s essential.
Sound knowledge of quarry operations, mobile plant, and day-to-day site coordination.
Solid experience operating machinery and stepping into hands-on operational tasks when required.
A strong commitment to safety, wellbeing, and doing the job right.
A collaborative, team-focused style and willingness to lead by example.
Good communication skills and the ability to build trust across the crew.
A proactive, accountable approach with the ability to adapt when the day changes.

Skills Required
