The Department of Occupational therapy is seeking one (1) nine-month, tenure track regular full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor to conduct and disseminate research; teach and mentor occupational therapy graduate (OTD & PhD) students and provide service to the Department, College and University.


Brief Description of Academic Unit:

The occupational therapy department seeks to optimize human performance and participation in everyday occupations, across all contexts and throughout the lifespan. We do this through excellence in teaching, research, service, and outreach. The Department includes a PhD in Occupation and Rehabilitation Science and an entry level OTD. Colorado State University (CSU) is a Carnegie Research I institution located in Fort Collins, 60 miles north of Denver, in a beautiful location along the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. Essential Duties:

Teaching and Advising: (40%)

  • Teach assigned courses; advise and mentor OTD and PhD students.

Research: (40%)

  • Conduct original research, write and submit grants, disseminate discovery through publication.
  • The candidate is expected to develop a research program with both independent and collaborative efforts directed at advancing knowledge in the area of occupational therapy, rehabilitation science, occupational science, or other relevant field.

​Service: (20%)

  • Provide service/outreach to the unit, college, university, and community in support of CSU’s mission.
  • Serve on professional, institutional, and departmental committees to support research initiatives and the CSU land grant mission.
  • Be a collaborative team member in the Department of Occupational Therapy.

Supervision:
  • May supervise future OTD and PhD or other CSU students.

Conditions of Employment:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Occupational therapy degree AND a terminal degree (PhD or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (occupational therapy, rehabilitation science, occupational science, or other relevant field).
  • Demonstrated promise for extraordinary scholarship related to the study of human performance and participation in everyday occupations and contexts with evidence of research productivity or strong potential to establish a sustainable scholarly program (e.g., publications, presentation, grant activity).
  • Commitment to building a focused program of research as evidenced by attempts to obtain intramural and/or extramural funding to support scholarship.
  • Record of experience in, or demonstrated potential for, graduate-level teaching.
  • Evidence of commitment to and collaboration with colleagues.
  • Eligible for licensure as an occupational therapist in Colorado.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching/conducting qualitative or implementation research.
  • Demonstrated experience in team science.
  • Record of mentoring students in a research capacity.
  • Record of teaching innovation.
