Role Summary:
Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, you will be working in a team responsible for the core finance and tax functions. The activities performed by the team ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial results, strong control of financial resources, and delivery of insights that support decision-making across Plenti.
The assistant financial accountant will play an important role in ensuring the daily core finance activities are completed in an effective and timely manner.
The role is suited to an individual who is a team player, who is accurate and meticulous with problem-solving capabilities, and who has a continuous process improvement mindset. It is also ideal for someone who is currently studying towards their CA/CPA qualification or plans to commence studies in the near future.
Key Responsibilities:
• Performing daily finance activities, including but not limited to the management and processing of investor monies, allocation of borrower payments, uploading bank statements and BPAY files, and taking appropriate actions on unreconciled transactions
• Preparation of daily pay runs from our core technology platform and uploading payments into the banking systems for processing
•Accounts payable process, ensuring supplier invoices are coded into the accounting system accurately and paid on a timely basis
• Support accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing and payment reconciliation
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances
• Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and aging analyses
• Preparing and posting manual journals into the accounting system (NetSuite and Xero) for month-end reporting
• Processing debt recoveries received from external debt collectors on a timely basis
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities (journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations)
• Assist with preparing daily pay-runs from our core technology platform and uploading payments into the banking systems for timely approvals for processing
• Preparation of trust accounting reconciliation and posting into the accounting system
• Preparation of allocated BAS returns
• Participate in audits by gathering schedules, supporting documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve billing, invoicing, and expense issues
• Contribute process-improvement ideas to increase efficiency and accuracy
Key Competencies:
This role is suited to someone earlier in their finance career, but who is ambitious and wants to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and fun environment where they can grow and develop over time. Attributes that will make you right for the role include:
• Experience with bank reconciliations and GL reconciliations
• Excellent time management skills
•Ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines
• Comfortable managing large volumes of transactions with a high attention to detail
• High degree of self-motivation and willingness to take ownership of tasks and deliver high-quality outcomes
• Continuous development mindset, with confidence to communicate issues and to implement solutions, and then follow up
• Advanced Excel skills and ideally some experience with accounting systems such as NetSuite, Xero, or similar
• Flexibility and ability to build strong relationships, operate effectively within cross-functional teams
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-changing environment
