As an Applications Engineer with InterSystems Managed Services, you will play a critical role in deploying, managing, and maintaining our HealthShare and IRIS platforms in fully managed service environments. You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, reliability, and optimal performance of these platforms, working closely with internal teams and customers to provide expert support and ensure seamless operations.
This role involves technical expertise in managing application environments, resolving infrastructure-related issues, and proactively monitoring systems to prevent service interruptions. You will collaborate with various teams to deliver high-quality, customer-focused solutions and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Deployment & Maintenance: Lead the deployment, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of InterSystems HealthShare and IRIS platforms in Managed Service environments.
- Environment Management: Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain application environments to ensure availability and reliability, minimizing service interruptions.
- Performance & Troubleshooting: Conduct performance analysis, identify bottlenecks, and resolve application and infrastructure issues within both internal and client environments.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support and subject-matter expertise to customers for platform-related issues, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and service requests.
- Patch Management: Manage the implementation of product patches, releases, and upgrades, ensuring that environments are kept up to date with the latest versions and security fixes.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (e.g., engineering, product development, and customer support) to address issues, optimize performance, and ensure successful deployment and support.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain technical documentation, including installation instructions, knowledge base articles, and FAQs, and contribute to the development of training materials for system administrators and technical teams.
- On-Call Support: Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, providing emergency support and responding to critical incidents in a timely manner.
- Automation & Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities to automate processes and improve the efficiency of deployment and operational workflows.
Qualifications
- Experience with InterSystems Products: Strong experience deploying and managing InterSystems HealthShare, IRIS, or Caché platforms is highly desirable.
- Technical Expertise: Proven experience managing application environments, with expertise in Linux server administration (including Apache and other related technologies). Experience in high-availability and disaster recovery configurations is a plus.
- Scripting & Automation: Experience with scripting languages (such as Shell, Python, or InterSystems ObjectScript) to automate tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve application and infrastructure-related issues.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external customers.
- Customer-Focused: Strong customer service mindset, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in system administration, cloud technologies, or platform-specific certifications are a plus.
Additional Preferred Skills
- Experience with database management and optimization.
- Familiarity with cloud-based environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with monitoring tools and practices to ensure systems health (e.g., Nagios, Grafana, Prometheus).
