The dominant skill the Application Migration Developer must have are Access & SQL Server, including Access ADP knowledge and SSIS. The job is to rewrite Access ADP applications that link to SQL Server backend to Access ACCDB format, then migrate them to different servers.Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Application Migration Developer to join our IT team. This position will be full-time, onsite, and is a contract position.
What You'll Do:
Rewrite MS Access ADP applications into ACCDB format
Migrate updated Access applications to new servers
Upgrade application components from SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2016 or higher, including updating and creating SSIS jobs
Collaborate closely with the agency development team to modernize and maintain the full application portfolio
Potentially participate in ASP.NET development as part of modernization efforts
Work with internal developers and service providers to ensure applications remain stable, reliable, and performant
Maintain and uphold best practices for documentation, code management, and development standards
Contribute to determining the future technical strategy for the agency’s application ecosystem
Support user acceptance testing (UAT) processes and ensure successful application transformations
Provide end‑user support for MS Access and SQL Server–based applications and communicate technical changes clearly to non‑technical stakeholders
What You'll Need
Required:
5+ years of experience with database and application upgrade/support experience (front‑end + back‑end)
5+ years supporting migrations involving MS Access (ADP, ACCDB) and MS SQL Server
5+ years developing and supporting MS Access Applications, including ACCDB and ADP formats
5+ years strong technical experience with MS Access + MS SQL Server application development and end‑user support
5+ years' experience with T‑SQL / SQL Server development
5+ years' experience developing and maintaining SSIS packages
5+ years' VBA development, including complex scripting
3+ years ASP.NET development experience
Experience working with Agile teams
Strong understanding of user acceptance testing and test processes
Experience capturing and communicating end‑user needs to technical staff
Strong communication and collaboration skills with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Preferred:
5+ years' experience with MS SQL Server administration (Highly desired)
Experience using Power BI, PowerApps, SharePoint, Jira, and GitHub
Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor

$65 - $73 per hourThe pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
