About the role .
The Analyst, Supply Chain Finance supports the Business Controller, Supply Chain Finance in delivering accurate, timely and well-controlled financial information for distribution, logistics and inventory across GB&I and EMENA.
Core accountabilities are month-end close and journal entries, financial tracking against budget and forecast, inventory health reporting, data reconciliation between operational and financial systems, and maintenance of the reporting and dashboards used by supply chain and finance stakeholders.
The role is structured to develop toward business partnering as operational and commercial understanding builds.
What you'll be doing.
Month-end close and journal entries
- Prepare and book journal entries, accruals, provisions and reclassifications for distribution, logistics and inventory across both regions, in line with group accounting policy and the close calendar.
- Complete assigned balance sheet reconciliations, clear open items and follow ageing balances through to resolution.
- Deliver against corporate close deadlines to a high standard of accuracy, escalating unusual or judgemental items rather than resolving them independently.
Financial tracking and reporting
- Track distribution, logistics and inventory costs against budget, forecast and prior year, and prepare the standard variance packs for both regions.
- Prepare monthly reporting for supply chain and finance stakeholders with structured commentary on cost movements.
- Build, automate and maintain KPI dashboards covering cost per pallet, per shipment and per case, cost-to-serve and inventory ageing, ensuring they remain current and reconciled.
Inventory health reporting
- Produce and maintain recurring reporting on blocked stock, off-grade, aged and slow-moving inventory across GB&I and EMENA.
- Track disposition progress against named owners and flag positions ageing without a resolution plan.
- Support the calculation, documentation and audit evidence for inventory provisions and write-offs.
Data integrity and reconciliation
- Reconcile data between TMS, WMS, SAP and reporting tools, and resolve discrepancies at source with the relevant owner.
- Perform routine data quality checks across cost centres, lanes, carriers and material master data, using AI and analytics tooling to interrogate large datasets and identify errors, anomalies and items requiring follow-up.
- Build and maintain controls that identify errors before they reach a reported number.
- Identify and implement improvements to templates, standard reports and checklists, applying AI and automation to reduce manual effort and error, and validating all AI-assisted output against source data before use.
Budget, forecast and analytical support
- Consolidate inputs from markets and distribution centres into standard templates for budget and forecast cycles, and review them for reasonableness before submission.
- Prepare analysis supporting tenders, contract renewals, rate comparisons and savings tracking.
- Build working knowledge of the physical supply chain, including lanes, distribution centres, carriers and product flows.
- Respond to ad-hoc requests from stakeholders across both regions, prioritising with the Business Controller where requests compete.
What you'll need to be successful.
- Undergraduate degree in business, finance, engineering, mathematics, data science or a related field.
- One to three years in finance, ideally including month-end close, financial control, FP&A or supply chain and operations finance. Strong graduates with relevant internship or placement experience will be considered.
- Sound understanding of month-end close, accruals and core management accounting concepts, including variance analysis and cost allocation.
- Strong Excel, including pivot tables, lookups and structured analysis.
- Proficiency applying AI and analytics tools to finance work - dashboard building, automation of recurring reporting and reconciliation, and interrogation of large datasets to identify errors and anomalies - with the discipline to validate output against source before use.
- Ability to work with large datasets, identify errors and produce clear, well-presented outputs.
- High standard of accuracy under close deadlines, and the organisation to manage competing priorities across two regions.
- Fluent English, written and spoken.
Preferred
- ERP experience, SAP preferred.
- Familiarity with WNS & TMS is an asset.
- Power BI familiarity.
- Experience in a multinational or multi-site environment.
- Professional accounting or other relevant qualification (CPA, CA or similar), or active study toward one.
