The Global Risk & Compliance Organization (GRC) is an independent risk management function, led by the Chief Risk Officer, with the objective of ensuring that American Express operates in a safe, sound, and fully compliant manner with all applicable regulatory expectations. GRC creates and maintains the overall risk management framework, performs independent risk management assessments, and monitors applicable risks.

How will you make an impact in this role?
This position will be part of the Enterprise Technology Services 2nd Line Compliance team and will support the objective to lead and drive an effective Compliance culture, elevate the control environment, and anticipate and escalate risks with focus on all areas within the Technology Services organization, including Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, Platforms, Data and AI, Enterprise Digital and Digital Acquisition Platforms across US and International markets.
The successful candidate will support the Compliance Manager in the continued development, growth, and maintenance of an effective Compliance Program, Compliance Risk Assessment (CRA), Issue Management, Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), and Regulatory Change Management (RCM), consistent with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, and American Express Company Compliance Programs and Policies.

Support execution of Compliance Risk Assessments (CRA), Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA), and ongoing monitoring activities across Enterprise Technology Services.
Assist in the identification, assessment, tracking, and remediation of compliance issues, including validation of corrective action plans.
Support reviews of technology controls, processes, and risk mitigation activities to assess alignment with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
Assist in evaluating regulatory changes and documenting potential impacts to Enterprise Technology Services processes, products, and controls.
Support implementation and ongoing execution of the enterprise Compliance risk management program, including relevant programs, policies, standards, and procedures.
Assist with regulatory examinations, internal audits, compliance reviews, and related information requests impacting Enterprise Technology Services.
Support identification and resolution of compliance gaps within business processes and monitor progress toward remediation.
Prepare compliance-related reporting, presentations, metrics, and documentation for management and governance forums.
Conduct research and analysis on regulatory requirements, emerging risks, and compliance-related matters affecting Enterprise Technology Services.
Minimum Qualifications
Understanding of risk management principles, frameworks, and regulatory requirements
Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills, and experience working in a matrixed and agile environment and on cross-functional teams.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Self-starter with strong critical thinking skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity effectively.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of technology processes, information security, data management, digital platforms, or technical capabilities within Enterprise Technology Services.
Experience working within a 2nd Line Compliance or risk management function.
Familiarity with Compliance Risk Assessments, Issue Management, Regulatory Change Management, or related risk management processes.
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Compliance, Technology, Business, or a related field.
