You'll design hybrid retrieval pipelines, ranking algorithms, and search APIs that enable agents to reason and act on the right information. Strong expertise in search engines, vector databases, embedding models and ranking algorithms is essential for success in this role. Search is rapidly transforming in the age of agents and you'll be at the forefront.
Scale search infrastructure to billions of documents across multi-tenant environments
Design hybrid retrieval combining semantic vector search with traditional IR techniques
Build ranking systems that learn from user behavior to improve relevance
Optimize the full search stack—query understanding, indexing, and distributed retrieval
Establish observability frameworks to measure and improve search quality
Shape the future of knowledge discovery with product and design teams
About You
Basic Qualification
8+ years experience in software development engineering, architecting, building, and scaling robust and efficient software systems.
4+ years experience in the following programming languages and technologies: TypeScript, React, Tailwind, TypeScript, Node.js
Experience with Postgres, Redis
Experience with GCP/Kubernetes/Terraform
Other Qualifications
Search scales to enterprise volumes with sub-second latency and uptime
Retrieval applies proven IR techniques and cutting-edge agentic search
Quality metrics and regression detection catch issues before they impact users
Balance hands-on implementation with system design and mentorship
Performance bottlenecks are solved proactively across the stack
Agents consistently find and use the right context to serve users
