We are seeking a Ground Hand to join our team in Mount Vernon, WA.  In this role you will assist aerial lineman and underground construction by preparing materials, tools, and equipment needed for overhead line work as well as underground construction equipment operators to ensure safety.

The Role

  • Assist aerial lineman by preparing materials, tools, and equipment needed for overhead line work
  • Act as a spotter for aerial linemen and equipment operators to ensure safety
  • Operate and maintain ground-level equipment, such as bucket trucks, winches, and hoists
  • Handle, transport, and organize tools, cables, poles, and hardware
  • Maintain a clean and safe job site, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and procedures
  • Provide support by pulling and feeding cables, attaching hardware, and securing work areas
  • Assist with traffic control and safety flagging as needed
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on vehicles, tools, and equipment
  • Communicate effectively with the team to ensure smooth operations
  • Follow all company safety guidelines to prevent workplace accidents and injuries
  • Strives to provide the best customer experience every day
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 1+ year(s) of aerial fiber optic installation and/or telecommunication construction preferred 
  • 1+ year(s) of experience using a pneumatic piercing tool or missile boring for underground construction preferred
  • Basic understanding of electrical or fiber optic work is a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of OSHA safety requirements
  • Familiar with NESC (National Electrical Safety Commission) safety guidelines
  • Ability to safely climb poles with climbing equipment
  • Ability to travel daily, open to a variety of schedules, participate in on-call evenings and weekends as needed
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
  • Ability to lift and carry 70lbs consistently
  • Ability to complete tasks with small components and wires
  • Ability to complete work outdoors, in tight spaces and elevated by bending, reaching, twisting, climbing, and working while standing up to 70% of the time
  • Ability to safely work and navigate various terrains, managing equipment, safety equipment and tools
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL required
  • Passing of all pre-employment requirements (MVR, Background Check, Drug Screen)
