A particular focus of this role will be BESS, renewables and hybrid asset structures, requiring a strong understanding of how storage participates in energy, balancing, ancillary-service and flexibility markets and creates value within increasingly renewable power systems.
You will combine strong commercial judgement with analytical capability, working closely with clients to understand their strategic objectives and translate complex market dynamics into actionable recommendations. You will also support business development activities, helping to identify new opportunities and grow Aurora's origination offering across Europe.
This is a dynamic, intellectually stimulating and client-facing role, offering significant responsibility, exposure to senior stakeholders, and the opportunity to influence major investment and commercial decisions across the energy transition.
Key Responsibilities
- Support renewable energy and BESS developers, investors, IPPs and asset owners in evaluating route-to-market and offtake strategies for standalone and hybrid assets.
- Work closely with the Head of Origination to identify, develop, and convert client opportunities, including direct involvement in client discussions.
- Support PPA, FPA, tolling, floor and hybrid-contract processes, including tender preparation, bid evaluation, commercial structuring and negotiation support.
- Assess market revenues, risk allocation, capture prices, shape/profile risk, imbalance exposure, collateral requirements and bankability implications.
- Lead workstreams and smaller project teams to deliver rigorous commercial analysis and clear client recommendations.
- Prepare client-facing materials, proposal content, pitch decks, workshop materials and transaction-support deliverables.
- Contribute to the continued development of Aurora's origination toolkit, including playbooks, templates, benchmarks and repeatable approaches across BESS and renewable offtake.
- Work with advisory, research and software teams to bring Aurora's market intelligence and modelling capabilities into origination mandates
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- At least 4 years' experience in the electricity sector, working with renewable developers, storage developers, utilities, IPPs, investors, lenders, traders or corporates.
- Strong understanding of European power markets and the commercial drivers affecting renewable generation, BESS and hybrid assets (e.g. imbalance risk, balancing markets, ancillary services and flexibility revenues)
- Experience assessing offtake structures, revenue streams, merchant exposure, risk allocation and investment cases for renewable or storage projects.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret market information and translate it into clear commercial recommendations.
- Excellent client-facing, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Demonstrated success managing workstreams or project teams.
- Ability to work with both technical and commercial stakeholders.
- Evidence of strong performance in team-oriented environments.
- Written and spoken fluency in English.
- Experience in PPA/FPA origination, route-to-market advisory, electricity trading, BESS optimisation, tolling/floor agreements or structured energy transactions.
