Job Summary:

Performs a variety of administrative/clerical duties in support of assigned department.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Greets patients and visitors, answers/screens/routes telephone calls, files, and, distributes mail.

  • Completes routine and detailed work assignments.

  • Communicates with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members about patient care.

  • Types various reports and documents for unit staff; photocopies and distributes and/or files as is necessary.

  • Transcribes and enters physicians' orders subject to the approval of a licensed nurse; asks for clarification when necessary.

  • Assists with processing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.

  • Assembles and maintains patient records and charts.

  • Schedules and coordinates meetings, conferences, special events, appointments, and travel arrangements.

  • Maintains assigned calendar(s).

  • Establishes and maintains filing systems.

  • Orders and stocks supplies.

  • Works under direct supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

  • Learning and applies knowledge at a basic level relying heavily on senior staff for troubleshooting.
