About the Role:
As an AR Accountant, you will be responsible for accurately applying incoming customer payments to open invoices in the ERP system. You will ensure timely reconciliation of cash transactions, resolve discrepancies, and support the overall efficiency of the Accounts Receivable process. This role requires strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and close collaboration with internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Allocate incoming payments to customer invoices in a timely and accurate manner
- Investigate and resolve unapplied or misapplied cash transactions
- Reconcile bank statements with accounting records and ERP systems
- Analyze payment discrepancies such as short payments, overpayments, and deductions
- Process remittance advice received via bank, email, or customer portals
- Identify unidentified receipts and perform customer account matching
- Collaborate with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams to resolve allocation issues
- Maintain accurate records of cash application activities and supporting documentation
- Monitor and reduce unapplied cash balances
- Support month-end closing activities related to cash posting and reconciliation
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Previous experience in Cash Application, Accounts Receivable, or Finance Operations
- Good understanding of accounting principles and AR processes
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is an advantage
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Fluency in English is required
- Knowledge of an additional European language (e.g., German, French, Italian, or Spanish) will be considered an asset
