Our client is one of the leading agro-processing companies
in Ghana and Africa.
Scope
The Account Officer will primarily support
general accounting functions such as account reconciliations, petty cash
management, taxation, bookkeeping and processing payments for the business.
Key
Responsibilities
- Process payments and post
entries in the ERP system, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with
accounting standards and company policies.
- Vouch petty cash payment
vouchers (PVs) submitted by stakeholders in line with approved financial
procedures.
- Reconcile and analyze petty
cash balances and related general ledger (GL) accounts, ensuring timely
resolution of discrepancies.
- Upload verified payments
onto the bank portal and ensuring correct authorization and approval workflows.
- Settle approved payments
against corresponding invoices, ensuring proper matching of documentation and
correctness of accounting entries.
- Prepare and file monthly
withholding tax returns on the GRA platform in accordance with statutory
requirements.
- Conduct monthly cash counts
and ensuring cash records align with physical balances.
- Update Excel schedules,
ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and traceability for audits and management
review.
- Maintain proper filing and
documentation of all financial records, ensuring easy retrieval and full audit
readiness.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or
HND or its equivalent in accounting
- Minimum of 2 - 3 years
of work experience as an account officer or similar role.
- Experience in monthly
reconciliations, account analyses, and audit support.
- Excellent communication
skills and strong attention to detail
- Strong proficiency in
the use of MS Word, Excel (Logic Functions), and PowerPoint.
- Strong Excel skills,
including use of formulas, data validation, lookup functions, and schedule
preparation.
- Basic Knowledge in ERP
systems (Dynamics 365 is a plus)
- Good knowledge of basic
tax requirements
- Strong knowledge of
basic accounting entries, including debits, credits, journal postings,
accruals, and reconciliations.
- Good knowledge of petty
cash controls
- Ability to work under
pressure and meet deadlines.

Skills Required

- Basic knowledge of ERP systems
