Excellium is seeking an experience Accounts Officer to join our team. This role will be instrumental in overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring financial accuracy, and providing strategic financial insights
- Manage and
meticulously maintain all financial records, including complex accounts
payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and fixed asset registers.
- Ensure
accurate and timely processing of all financial transactions, verifying
supporting documentation and necessary approvals.
- Oversee
petty cash management, ensuring controls, timely reconciliations, and adherence
to company policies.
- Perform reconciliations
of bank statements, sub-ledgers to general ledger, and other critical accounts,
investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Preparation
of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
(e.g. Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Profit or Loss and Other
Comprehensive Income, Statement of Cash Flows).
- Generate and
analyze various financial reports for management, providing insightful
commentary on variances and financial performance.
- Drive the
efficient execution of month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring all
entries are posted and reconciled.
- Support the
annual budgeting process and provide input for financial forecasting.
- Monitor
expenditures against budgets, identify significant variances, and provide
detailed explanations to management.
- Conduct
basic financial analysis to support decision-making, including trend analysis
and cost-benefit analysis.
- Implement
and maintain strong internal financial controls to safeguard company assets and
ensure data integrity.
- Ensure
strict adherence to local accounting standards company policies, and relevant
Nigerian regulatory requirements (e.g., FIRS, LIRS, CAC, NSITF, PENCOM).
- Prepare and
submit accurate tax computations (e.g., Company Income Tax, Value Added Tax,
Withholding Tax, Pay As You Earn) and ensure timely remittance to relevant
authorities.
- Coordinate
and facilitate internal and external audit processes, providing necessary
documentation and explanations to auditors.
- Stay updated
with changes in Nigerian tax laws and accounting regulations, advising
management on potential impacts.
- Identify
opportunities to streamline accounting processes, enhance efficiency, and
improve accuracy through automation or procedural changes.
- Develop and
update accounting policies and procedures as required.
- Liaise
effectively with management, external auditors, tax consultants, and financial
institutions.
- Manage
vendor and client accounts, resolving complex billing issues and ensuring
timely collections for accounts receivable.
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related course
- Either ATS Certification or ICAN/ACCA Certification started
or completed
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive work experience as
an Account Officer role in a structured organization.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing full sets of accounts
and financial statements.
- Proven experience with tax computations and filings in
Nigeria.
- Proficiency in accounting software packages
- Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Office for financial
analysis and reporting.
- Strong grasp of Nigerian tax laws.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a
keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, capable
of managing multiple priorities and meeting strict deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the
ability to present financial information clearly and concisely.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality in
handling sensitive financial information.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working
independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Must be willing to resume immediately.
Skills Required

Excellium Pharmaceutical, Inc. is a U.S.-based pharmaceutical manufacturer operating an FDA‑approved, 53,000 sq. ft. oral solid development and manufacturing facility in Fairfield, NJ. The site holds DEA licenses for Schedule III–V controlled substances and functions as an in‑house oral solid development, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution center; the company holds ANDAs for multiple products and maintains a pipeline of additional candidates.
