THE POSITION IN A NUTSHELL

Sciens Building Solutions is searching for an Accounting Supervisor to support the daily work of the accounting department by performing advanced accounting tasks and serving as a resource for co‑workers on processes, priorities, and problem solving. The role focuses on hands‑on transactional work, coordination of activities, and informal guidance to help the team meet accuracy, timeliness, and compliance goals.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (and doing well!)

  • Perform complex daily accounting tasks, including accounts receivable and payable processing, bank reconciliations, and general ledger functions.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for co-workers on questions about accounting procedures, documentation requirements, and system usage, escalating issues to management as needed.
  • Coordinate the flow of work within the team by tracking status of assigned tasks, helping redistribute workloads informally when priorities shift, and keeping the manager informed of bottlenecks.
  • Assist with audit requests by compiling supporting documentation, explaining transaction details, and responding to information requests under the direction of management.
  • Help ensure that day-to-day accounting work aligns with established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements by following standard processes across the team.
  • Contribute to month-end and year-end close by preparing reconciliations, reviewing assigned account balances, and resolving discrepancies in collaboration with the team and manager.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation, ensuring that files are complete, updated, and easily accessible to the team.
  • Provide input to leadership on process improvements, documentation needs, and training topics based on day-to-day observations.
