SUMMARY

This position performs a wide variety of accounting operations and ad-hoc duties for the department, prepare financial reports and maintain accurate financial records (including appropriate subsidiary ledgers) in accordance with principles generally accepted in the United States of America (GAAP), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), regulatory and internal control over financial reporting (“ICFR”) guidelines for the Bank. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complies with, and stays abreast of, all policies and procedures, federal and state laws, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements applicable to the job.
  • Maintains the Bank’s financial records and reports in an up-to-date condition reflecting changes in the general ledger, in accordance with company policies and procedures. This includes reviewing and analyzing general ledger accounts to ensure accurate reporting of the financial activity of the bank.
  • Responsibilities include but not limited to general accounting functions, accounts payable, daily cash management activities as assigned.
  • Reviews accounts payable transactions and corresponding general ledger transactions daily to document for any exceptions and follow-up with related department managers to resolve issues.
  • Prepares daily and monthly record journal entries.
  • Prepares general ledger accounting reconciliations.
  • Participates in month-end close process as assigned.
  • Record and process intercompany relationships and transactions between Bank and Bank Holding Company.
  • Maintains ongoing collaboration with other departments to obtain and review schedules for the preparation of external filings, and to ensure transactions are captured appropriately in the financial statements.
  • Assists with compilation of various financial regulatory reports and SEC filings, including Call Report, Annual Reports on Form 10-K, and quarterly reports on Form 10-Q in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Assists with the collection of audit related materials as required by external and internal auditors.
  • Identifies process improvement opportunities and assists with developing and maintaining procedures and documentation for the Finance – Accounting and Financial Reporting department.
  • Responsible for record retention effort and coordination with Facilities
    • Provides support on various special projects.
    • Cross-train on other positions in the Accounting and Financial Reporting department.
    • Provide, present, and promote the Citizens Experience to all external and internal customers. 
    • Other duties as assigned.

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and/or projects accurately within the same period.

The work environment is usually moderate. 

Salary Range:$23.93 To $32.31 Hourly

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and/or education, and location.  This position is also eligible for an annual bonus.
