The Accounting Manager provides a high-level of accounting support and performs a variety of complex accounting tasks with a high degree of confidentiality. He/she performs a variety of work, much of which is centered around appropriate revenue recognition, utilizing judgment within prescribed standards and procedures and supervises the work of a small team of Staff.
The Accounting Manager provides a high-level of accounting support and performs a variety of complex accounting tasks with a high degree of confidentiality. He/she performs a variety of work, much of which is centered around appropriate revenue recognition, utilizing judgment within prescribed standards and procedures and supervises the work of a small team of Staff and Senior Accountants.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Owns the appropriate accounting for revenue under ASC 606 for a significant portion of the Company’s business.
- Prepares, examines and/or analyzes accounting records, financial statements or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
- Develops, maintains and analyzes performance against budgets. Investigates variance across the company’s key revenue and expense accounts.
- Proactively finds discrepancies and installs preventive measures to correct
- Identifies deficiencies in internal control and crafts process changes to address deficiencies and to yield operational efficiencies
- Prepares adjusting journal entries
- Collaborates with groups outside of accounting.
- Maintains data in information disparate systems and databases.
- Prepares ad hoc reports with little direction.
- Interprets financial records and reports for management.
- Monitors the close calendar and ensures dates are being met across the organization.
- Assists with financial audits and quarterly reviews.
- Brings issues and discrepancies to the attention of the appropriate leader.
- Leads, mentors, and develops a team of accounting professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Delegates tasks to Staff and Senior Accountants, maintaining appropriate level of supervision to ensure quality outputs.
- Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports for accuracy and completeness.
Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting., CPA preferred.
- 5+ years of public accounting and/or industry experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting , and internal controls.
- Experience in Insurance accounting is preferred, but not required.
- Proven ability to manage, develop, and mentor a team while driving results.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent computer skills in database management and record keeping.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Proven experience in working with large sets of data
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess excellent organizational skills.
- Exhibits professional skepticism.
- Must demonstrate the organization’s core values, exuding behavior aligned with the firm’s culture.

- Fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
- Must be able to interact effectively with various levels of management both inside and outside the organization.
- Hybrid in Tampa - in office 3x per week.
