Your Role:

The Accounting Manager will report to the Corporate Controller and is primarily responsible for developing and continuously improving the company’s accounting processes and procedures. They will be a key business partner to the Sales, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, FP&A, and other internal stakeholders. 

What You'll Do:

  • Ensure our timely, complete, and accurate reporting in accordance with US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), and other regulatory requirements
  • Manage and develop a high-performing accounting team through effective leadership, coaching, and mentoring
  • Provide guidance and support to direct reports; Senior GL Accountants, AP Analyst, and Company Card Administrator by establishing clear performance expectations, providing regular feedback, and creating opportunities for professional growth.
  • Review and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance and the monthly closing of our accounts
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations as well as variance explanations
  • Interface with internal business partners regarding new business initiatives, including assessing the accounting treatment, reporting/regulatory disclosures, internal control implications and systems impacts
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decision-making.
  • Assist in the implementation of appropriate internal controls and process improvements
  • Interact directly with the independent auditors to discuss and resolve accounting issues in a timely manner and facilitate the completion of our reviews and audits
  • Oversee the accounts payable and Corporate Card programs 

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of public-sector experience, and CPA with prior national public accounting firm (Big 4 preferred)
  • Strong understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), including implementing internal controls processes and documentation  
  • Experience in accounting, financial reporting, or other relevant experience with progressively increasing responsibilities
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP as well as strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to motivate, mentor, and guide a team effectively.
  • Ability to travel 10-20% for company onboarding, team meetings and other business needs
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical skills and problem-solving skills in closing process gaps and resolving issues, building analytics and analyses of financial results
  • Proficient with MS Excel and advanced functionality
