As an Accounting
Associate, you’ll support an Australian accounting firm by assisting with
day‑to‑day accounting tasks, financial processing, and compliance requirements.
This role is
ideal for someone who already has basic knowledge of Australian accounting
processes and terminology, enjoys working with numbers, and wants to grow
their experience supporting AU clients.
You’ll work
closely with senior accountants and finance leaders to ensure transactions are
recorded accurately, deadlines are met, and Australian accounting standards are
followed.
What You’ll
Do
- Support compliance with Australian financial and
reporting requirements
- Assist in processing accounts payable and accounts
receivable transactions
- Record financial transactions accurately in the
accounting system
- Prepare and post journal entries as required
- Maintain general ledger records and asist with bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Support month‑end and year‑end close activities
- Prepare basic financial reports and summaries for
review by senior accountants
- Ensure supporting documents are complete, accurate,
and properly filed
- Assist with BAS preparation support tasks (where
applicable)
- Maintain organised financial records and working
papers
- Ensure documentation complies with internal
controls and Australian accounting practices
- Co-ordinate with Australian accountants and
internal finance teams
- Respond to information requests and follow up on
outstanding items
- Support audits and reviews by preparing schedules
and documentation
- Perform ad hoc accounting and finance tasks as
required
Requirements
What We’re
Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance,
or a related business course
- Prior experience assisting Australian accounting
firms or supporting AU accounts
- Basic knowledge of Australian accounting
processes, standards, and terminology
- (e.g. BAS, GST, general ledger, reconciliations)
- Experience using accounting software (e.g. Xero,
MYOB, QuickBooks) is a strong advantage
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to
accuracy
- Good written and spoken English communication
skills
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple
tasks efficiently
- Willingness to learn and grow within an Australian
accounting environment
