Our client, a company within the Mining industry, is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accountant to support accounting and financial management activities within the organization. The role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring statutory compliance, managing accounting processes, and supporting financial operations. The ideal candidate will be analytical, organized, and capable of working independently while contributing to overall financial accuracy and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate books of accounts in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Record and reconcile all financial transactions including sales, purchases, expenses, and bank transactions.
- Perform bank, creditor, and debtor reconciliations.
- Prepare statutory returns including VAT, PAYE, SDL, WHT, and other applicable taxes.
- Ensure compliance with TRA regulations and filing deadlines.
- Assist in preparation of documents required for audits and tax assessments.
- Monitor stock accounting and reconcile physical inventory with accounting records.
- Coordinate with warehouse and operations teams for stock movement entries.
- Assist in cost tracking for imports and landed cost allocation.
- Manage supplier payments and customer invoicing.
- Follow up on receivables and maintain aging reports.
- Verify supporting documents for payments and expenses.
- Maintain accounting records in Tally or other accounting software.
- Ensure proper data entry and system accuracy.
- Support improvements in accounting processes and internal controls.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
- Prior experience using Tally accounting software is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of Tanzanian tax and statutory requirements.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong integrity and confidentiality.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Skills Required
