About the job:
As an Accountant at Alfa Laval, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our financial records are precise and reliable, driving insightful reconciliations and delivering impactful financial and management reports that support our business growth and success.
Currently, this is a hybrid opportunity located in Richmond, VA.
As a part of the team, you will:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual journal entries and cost allocations
- Participate in month-end close and review of financial results
- Prepare and analyze the periodic reporting for Alfa Laval Inc and other subsidiaries
- Collect additional information necessary for the statutory closing reporting
- Prepare account reconciliations and investigate outstanding items
- Investigate and correct errors or inconsistencies in financial entries or reports
- Prepare bank reconciliations
- Provide ad hoc financial reports, analysis and projects as requested
- Support other team members in day-to-day processes
- Document and update standard operating procedures for all owned processes
- Identify potential process improvements
- Be responsible for data warehouse maintenance
- Assist with auditor requests
- Verifying, allocating, posting and reconciling the accounts within area of responsibility (e.g. Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger).
- Maintaining accurate accounting within area of responsibility to be in line with accounting principles and reporting schedules.
- Producing accounting reports and present results.
- Collaborate with counterparts in the finance processes (e.g. Finance Shared Service Center personnel or personnel within Local Finance).

What you know:
You have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field and:
- 3+ years of experience of relevant accounting / financial reporting experience.
- Knowledge of standard accounting principles, best practices, and procedures.
- Thorough understanding of general ledger structure.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge.
- Proficiency in Excel and other analytical tools.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong time-management, prioritizing and multi-tasking skills.
- Highest level of integrity and trust.
- Dedication to excellent customer service.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in order to meet deadlines and goals.
- Team player.
- CPA or equivalent preferred.
- Fluent in Spanish is a plus.
