Job Summary

The Revenue Accountant supports accurate and timely recording, analysis, and reporting of oil, natural gas, and NGL revenues for an oil & gas company. This role assists with revenue allocations, royalty and working interest owner distributions, production validation, and regulatory reporting. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, a desire to build foundational knowledge of oil & gas revenue processes, and a collaborative mindset for working across land, production, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process monthly oil, gas, and NGL revenue for assigned properties.
  • Verify sales volumes, pricing, and purchaser statements.
  • Allocate revenue to working interest and royalty owners in accordance with DOI/land records.
  • Review revenue data for accuracy and identify variances or anomalies.
  • Research and resolve owner inquiries related to revenue payments.
  • Work with the Division Order team to ensure proper ownership setup and DOI accuracy.
  • Assist with escheatment processing and unclaimed property compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal reporting requirements and deadlines.
  • Record journal entries for revenue, taxes, and adjustments.
  • Reconcile revenue-related general ledger accounts monthly.
  • Assist with monthly close and revenue-related reporting to management.
  • Work with Land, Production Operations, Marketing, and Accounting teams to validate product volumes, ownership, and pricing.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing schedules, documentation, and explanations.
  • Identify and recommend improvements in revenue accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Participate in system enhancements or implementations for revenue modules
QualificationsRequired Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 0-2 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in oil & gas. ; new graduates with relevant internship experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Basic understanding of, or willingness to learn, upstream revenue processes, including allocations, taxes, and regulatory reporting.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting systems.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with oil & gas software
  • Knowledge of ONRR, severance tax rules, and state regulatory reporting.
  • Experience in upstream E&P accounting.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and customer service (especially owner relations)
  • Organizational and time‑management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
  • Team-oriented and collaborative

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 0-2 years of professional accounting experience (new graduates with internship experience encouraged)
  • Basic understanding of, or willingness to learn, upstream revenue processes including allocations, taxes, and regulatory reporting
  • Strong Excel skills
