JOB OVERVIEW:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Revenue Accountant to join our energy accounting team. As a Senior Revenue Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate revenue recognition, analyzing financial data, and contributing to the overall financial health of our organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in revenue accounting within the upstream oil and gas sector, an emphasis of experience around operated assets, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILTIES:
Revenue Recognition:
Oversee and execute the revenue recognition process, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and internal policies.
Analyze and interpret complex production and sales data to accurately calculate and record revenue.
Financial Analysis:
Conduct thorough financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide insights and recommendations for optimizing revenue streams.
Reporting:
Prepare and present comprehensive revenue reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Support audits related to revenue recognition.
Compliance:
Stay abreast of industry changes and updates in revenue accounting standards, ensuring the organization's practices remain in compliance.
Work closely with regulatory agencies to address inquiries and maintain accurate reporting.
Perform regulatory reporting related to production taxes and/or government royalties.
Process Improvement:
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in revenue accounting procedures.
Collaborate with IT teams to leverage technology for automation and optimization of financial processes.
QualificationsREQUIRED SKILLS:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in revenue accounting, with at least 3 years in the upstream oil and gas industry.
Strong understanding of account reconciliations, revenue recognition principles and their application in the upstream oil and gas sector.
Proficient in using accounting software and ERP systems, with a high level of Excel proficiency.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
DESIRED QUALIFICAITONS:
CPA or equivalent certification is a plus.
Experience with gas balancing, severance tax or production accounting a plus.
Quorum’s OGsys experience a plus.
Ability to adapt to evolving industry standards, regulations, and organizational requirements.
Proven ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and lead initiatives.
