Elsevier Health is seeking an "Manager, Account Manager" who would lead a team of account managers to drive strategic partnerships with hospitals and universities across Japan.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing account management team focused on Clinical Solutions customers in Japan
- Set clear performance objectives, KPIs, and individual development plans for team members
- Foster a customer-centric, collaborative team culture aligned with Elsevier's values
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of top talent
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key healthcare stakeholders, including hospital leadership, clinicians, librarians, educators, and procurement teams
- Develop strategic account plans to drive retention, adoption, and growth
- Serve as an escalation point for complex customer issues and ensure timely resolution
- Ensure customers achieve measurable value from Elsevier's Clinical Solutions portfolio
Revenue Growth & Commercial Execution
- Drive new and renewal sales within assigned accounts
- Increase customer satisfaction
- Monitor pipeline health, forecast accuracy, and account performance metrics
- Support contract negotiations and commercial discussions
Market & Strategic Insight
- Maintain deep knowledge of the Japanese healthcare ecosystem, market trends, and competitive landscape
- Provide customer feedback and market intelligence to internal stakeholders including product and marketing teams
- Contribute to regional business planning and go-to-market initiatives
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with Customer Success, Product, Marketing, Sales Operations, and Support teams to continuously improve the customer experience
- Participate in regional and global initiatives to optimize account management processes and best practices
- Ensure alignment between local customer needs and global strategic priorities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or above
- Minimum 3 years of B2B sales team management or minimum 5 years of B2B sales or account management experience. (preferably in healthcare, financial services, or other solution-based industries)
- Native-level Japanese
- Business-level English
- Ability to build and maintain executive-level relationships with senior stakeholders
- Commercial acumen — renewals, upselling, forecasting, pipeline management
- Strategic thinking — ability to develop and execute account plans
- Proven ability to coach, develop, and performance-manage a team

- Experience selling digital solutions, e-learning, or SaaS
- Background in solution-based or intangible product sales
