About the role


As the Wholesale & Trading AM lead at Airwallex, you will own and grow a portfolio of high-potential clients while steering our strategy for this industry. This role blends hands-on account management with vertical leadership — you’ll shape how we penetrate the wholesale and trading ecosystem, identify emerging opportunities, and drive product adoption across payments, collections, FX, cards, and workflow tools.
You will work cross-functionally with sales, product, operations, marketing, and strategy to design playbooks, refine customer journeys, and bring market insights back into the business. The ideal candidate brings deep payments experience, a solid understanding of wholesale/trading dynamics, and the hustle and creativity to build new pathways in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities
  • Vertical Growth Strategy: Drive strategy, prioritisation, and initiatives to expand our footprint, strengthen client relationships, and maximize wallet share in the wholesale and trading sector.

  • Shape Industry Playbooks: Identify workflows, pain points, and product opportunities unique to the wholesale ecosystem.

  • Market Intelligence: Bring insights on industry trends, competitors, and emerging behaviours to commercial leadership.

  • Own a Portfolio: Develop a deep understanding of each client’s business nature, trading workflows, industry-specific needs, and transaction trends, enabling you to advise on optimal payment, FX, and operational setups.

  • Maximise Wallet Share: Use data, industry knowledge, and consultative selling to drive adoption across payments, collections, transfers, cards, yield, and workflow automation.

  • Educate & Activate: Teach customers how to fully leverage Airwallex to streamline operations and improve margins.

  • Champion Customer Needs: Advocate internally for better product-market fit for wholesale and trading clients.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with product, ops, and marketing to run pilots, refine messaging, and improve platform usage.

Requirements
  • 4–5 years experience in roles related to wholesale, trading, B2B commerce, or logistics/trade infrastructure.

  • Mandatory experience in payments, ideally in areas such as collections, payouts, FX or cross-border payments.

  • Hustler mentality: scrappy, persistent, and comfortable working in ambiguity.

  • Creative problem solver who can develop new approaches tailored to a complex industry.

  • Strong commercial intuition with the ability to map trading/payment flows and spot revenue opportunities.

  • Relationship-first mindset with ability to build trust across multi-stakeholder environments.

  • Excellent communication skills — clear, structured, and persuasive.

  • Experience in fintech or high-growth start-ups

  • Fluency in Mandarin

  • Prior experience directly and indirectly leading a small team or a focused industry
