YOUR IMPACT
As an Account Executive in our State, Local Government, and Higher Education (SLED) sales organization, you will manage direct software sales engagements across designated state, county, municipal, and educational accounts in the Mountain/West region. In this role, you will lead sales cycles from territory prospecting through contract award, renewal, and workload expansion.
- Deliver on quarterly and annual revenue targets across software licenses, subscriptions, cloud adoption, and professional services.
- Lead direct customer sales engagements, identifying new opportunities, qualifying agency requirements, and closing enterprise software agreements across SLED accounts.
- Engage with agency leadership, Chief Information Officers (CIOs), Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs), and IT directors to align observability, cybersecurity, and data analytics software with government modernization mandates.
- Partner with regional Cisco sales counterparts, Value-Added Resellers (VARs), and System Integrators to co-sell and position software solutions on public sector cooperative contract vehicles (e.g., NASPO ValuePoint, OMNIA, state-specific master contracts).
- Collaborate with internal technical resources (Sales Engineers, Customer Success Managers, and Solutions Architects) to deliver software demonstrations and proof-of-value (PoV) evaluations.
- Maintain accurate quarterly territory sales forecasts, opportunity qualification data, and customer activity logs in CRM tools.
Minimum Qualifications
- Enterprise Software Sales Experience: Minimum 5 years of direct quota-carrying software, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), or cloud technology sales experience selling to commercial enterprise or Public Sector accounts.
- SLED Domain Experience: Minimum 2 years of direct quota-carrying software sales experience selling directly to State, Local Government, or Higher Education (SLED) accounts within the Western / Mountain United States.
- Quota Attainment: Verifiable track record of meeting or exceeding annual quota assignments in enterprise software sales.
- Travel Commitment: Willingness and ability to travel up to 30–40% within the assigned territory for on-site customer meetings, technical demonstrations, and industry events.
- Work Authorization: Current legal authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship.
- Education & Experience Equivalency: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, OR equivalent practical experience (defined as a minimum of 4 years of additional relevant professional software sales experience in lieu of a degree).
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of direct quota-carrying software sales experience calling on State and Local Government agencies or Higher Education institutions within the State of Utah (UT).
- 3 or more years of experience selling subscription, SaaS, or multi-tenant cloud software platforms.
- Demonstrated experience co-selling with regional channel partners, SLED contracts/cooperatives (e.g., NASPO ValuePoint, OMNIA, TIPS), and Value-Added Resellers (VARs).
- Domain experience selling within the cybersecurity, SIEM, enterprise observability, log analytics, or IT operations software markets.
- Practical proficiency applying structured enterprise sales methodologies (such as MEDDPICC, Force Management / Command of the Message, or Challenger Sale) for territory management and opportunity qualification.

U.S. employees are eligible for paid time away as described below, subject to Cisco’s policies:
10 paid holidays per full calendar year, plus 1 floating holiday for non-exempt employees
1 paid day off for employee’s birthday, paid year-end holiday shutdown, and 4 paid days off for personal wellness determined by Cisco
Non-exempt employees** receive 16 days of paid vacation time per full calendar year, accrued at rate of 4.92 hours per pay period for full-time employees
Exempt employees participate in Cisco’s flexible vacation time off program, which has no defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use (subject to availability and some business limitations)
80 hours of sick time off provided on hire date and each January 1st thereafter, and up to 80 hours of unused sick time carried forward from one calendar year to the next
Additional paid time away may be requested to deal with critical or emergency issues for family members
Optional 10 paid days per full calendar year to volunteer
For non-sales roles, employees are also eligible to earn annual bonuses subject to Cisco’s policies.
Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components, subject to the applicable Cisco plan. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and
Once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay 0% up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.

$292,000.00 - $440,900.00Non-Metro New York state & Washington state:
