Account Executive – Central Government

Following a successful year for our UK Public Sector Team, we are hiring a new business Account Manager to focus on acquiring new Central Government customers in this extremely important sector.
This will be an acquisition role, focusing on a specific list of target customers within UK Central Government, solving complex problems through the use of Splunk’s big data analytics platform.
The individual will be a motivated, open, innovative person that enjoys new business engagements and can lead and manage their virtual team to the mutual success of both our customers and Splunk.
Responsibilities:
- Consistently over-deliver against targets meeting deadlines and delivering predictable revenue.
- Managing your own business portfolio - helping to shape the strategy for an exciting sector, with long-term prospecting plans, driving complex account mapping, and diligently managing sales opportunities with a myriad of stakeholders.
- Collaborating with internal and external partners for maximum efficiency and scale
- Leveraging industry leading in-house sales engineering resources, wider specialist teams and the wider Cisco business to uncover and progress new business opportunities
- Blending the Splunk sales methodology with your own sales acumen
- Be a good listener and problem solver, helping prospective customers solve their challenges using Splunk, and guiding them on their data journey
- Being an empathetic corporate citizen – nurturing a two-way flow of relevant and timely information.
- Working within and mutually supporting a high-performance team, to deliver beyond expectations and ensure the most efficient employment of critical resources.
- Guiding all activities delivered your own account team and a broader group of Splunk contributors/supporters.
Requirements:
- A demonstrable track record (minimum 5 years) in building, managing, and delivering successful sales results within the UK Central Government Market
- Unquestionable understanding of the UK Central Government sector - able to understand the challenges of the sector and apply the Splunks value stack
- Being a hungry sales professional with a passion for new business
- Extensive Account Management experience (minimum 5 years) and experience leading customers through complex challenges
- Experience of collaborating with channel partners, GSI’s and ISV’s to uncover new opportunities
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Outstanding interpersonal presentation skills and able to communicate comfortably at C-Level
- A growth mindset - accepting that there is something to learn every day
- Strong executive presence - very comfortable with ‘C-Suite’ engagement (both internally and externally)
- Experience of closing sophisticated, multi-million dollar software licence deals, through multithreaded networking and negotiation.
- Shrewd understanding of SaaS forecasting. Understanding how to handle sales target risk, taking ownership for committing and closing future deals and forecasting accurately.
- Thriving in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment with high expectations of all team members.
- Able to work independently and remotely, whilst being equally comfortable in collaborating with other team members and corporate colleagues.
- Prepared to travel to visit customers (weekly), and to attend industry and internal events in person when required
