This position exists to support Northland students in achieving academic success through tutoring, library and proctoring services. The position provides support and learning services and activities which are intended to increase student persistence and completion.
- Customer Service Skills
- Support student with acquiring skills toward independence in their learning
- Support college-wide efforts to ensure high-quality academic support
- Support students in identifying and accessing reputable resources and materials
- Provide students with appropriate academic support to achieve academic goals
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner
Salary Range:
Minimum Qualifications
- One academic year of teaching, tutoring, library services, or related experience at the high school level or above
- Computer skills to create letters, modify spreadsheets, organize calendaring, and navigate online materials
- A commitment to supporting students where they are and providing accurate information and appropriate alternatives in a timely, thorough, friendly/courteous, respectful, and professional manner.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to assess and respond to the informational needs of individuals from diverse educational backgrounds; provide instruction and guidance in research and study skills; train, direct, and evaluate student employees.
Preferred Qualification
- Associate or higher degree in related area (communications, writing, reading, speech, and/or mathematics)
- Experience as a proctor for standardized testing, including computer-based assessments
- Experience working with students from diverse populations (i.e. ethnicity, culture, disability, income)
