About this opportunity:
Ericsson Research develops communication technologies and standards that connect people, businesses and society. Our Radio Research team in Linköping works on advanced solutions for future wireless networks, including radio concepts, network algorithms, antenna systems, signal processing, performance evaluation and artificial intelligence.
As a 6G Researcher in Wireless Communication Concepts, you will help shape the technologies and standards for next-generation mobile networks. You will work with researchers, universities, customers and industry partners in a collaborative, international environment.
What you will do:
  • Develop, model and evaluate wireless communication concepts and algorithms for future 6G networks.
  • Design and run simulations under realistic network conditions, including technologies based on advanced antenna systems.
  • Use analytical methods, simulations, experiments and prototypes to assess the performance and feasibility of new ideas.
  • Apply artificial intelligence and machine learning to areas such as scheduling, mobility, beam management, interference coordination, energy efficiency and network optimization.
  • Use AI-based tools to improve simulation development, data analysis and research workflows.
  • Contribute to technical proposals for industry standards, including 3GPP, and support the creation of intellectual property.
  • Identify opportunities to apply research results in products, services, standards and strategic initiatives.
  • Participate in relevant industry and standardization forums.
  • Present research findings and explain complex technical topics clearly to different audiences.

The skills you bring:
  • A master's or doctoral degree in electrical engineering, telecommunications, data science, mathematics, physics or a related field.
  • Experience or academic knowledge in one or more of the following areas: wireless communication systems, future radio technologies, network algorithms, advanced antenna systems, radio resource management, artificial intelligence for wireless systems or system-level simulations.
  • Programming experience in languages such as C++, Java, MATLAB or Python, with an ability to develop and use simulation tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combining theoretical understanding with practical evaluation.
  • Knowledge of 3GPP RAN1 or RAN4 is an advantage.
  • Experience with, or interest in, applying artificial intelligence and machine learning to wireless algorithm development and research activities.
  • Clear written and spoken English communication skills.
  • A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively with people from different technical and cultural backgrounds.
  • Curiosity, initiative and motivation to explore new ideas and contribute to future 6G technology.
