Are you passionate about creating exceptional experiences and making people feel welcome? Protective is seeking a highly motivated and service-oriented Meeting & Events Summer 2027 Intern to join our team. This internship is ideal for someone who has a heart for hospitality, enjoys building relationships, and is eager to learn the ins and outs of corporate event planning. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, ambitious, adaptable, and excited to gain hands-on experience coordinating events from initial planning through on-site execution while working with professionals across the organization.
 
 
Program Details:
 
Duration: May 31st- July 30th, 2027
 
Location: Corporate Office in Birmingham, AL.

Student Criteria:

  • Education: Undergraduate (Juniors and Seniors preferred) or Graduate students. Students must be actively enrolled in either an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program as of May 31st, 2027 to be eligible.
  • Majors: Hospitality Management, Event Management, Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field. 
     

Activities:

  • Relevant Work Projects: Support the planning and execution of corporate meetings and events by assisting with sourcing, contract negotiations, budgeting, food and beverage coordination, and onsite event management. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors while maintaining strong professional relationships and ensuring a high level of customer service throughout the planning process. Gain hands-on experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, utilizing event planning software and business systems, and contributing to the successful delivery of engaging and memorable events.
  • Professional Development Training: Interns will attend workshops and training sessions focused on enhancing their professional skills. Topics may include resume building, interview techniques, leadership development, and industry-specific knowledge. These sessions aim to prepare interns for successful careers post-graduation.
  • Networking with Leadership and Fellow Interns: Protective Life values the importance of building professional networks. Interns will have multiple opportunities to interact with company leaders through formal and informal events. Additionally, interns will collaborate with peers from different departments, fostering a sense of community and shared learning.
  • Mentoring: Mentors will provide guidance, support, and feedback throughout the internship. Interns will have regular one-on-one meetings with their mentors to discuss progress, challenges, and career aspirations. This mentorship aims to foster professional growth, enhance skills, and build a strong foundation for future career success.

Selection Process:

  • Qualification: Qualified candidates will be invited to interview.
  • Selection Process: Our program receives a lot of interest, and our process starts early. Please be patient as it may take us several weeks to make initial contact with you
  • Interviews: Candidates will be scheduled for an initial 15-minute interview with a recruiter, followed by 1 additional interviews with hiring manager.
