Owns Zipline’s mobile test site program from strategy and site selection through deployment, operations, maintenance, auditing, and demobilization. The role translates engineering testing needs into deployment plans, coordinates infrastructure, staffing, vendors, safety, security, and asset allocation, and establishes standardized procedures and readiness criteria. It requires cross-functional leadership across engineering, flight operations, maintenance, safety, security, and external partners, plus regular travel to remote or challenging test locations.

Own the end-to-end electrical architecture for autonomous drone charging towers, including power distribution, cable harnesses, BOMs, cost trade-offs, NEC compliance, UL-listed raceway certification, and AHJ approvals. Support field deployments and ensure designs are practical, reliable, scalable, and cost-effective. The role requires industrial power systems experience, hands-on cable and conduit knowledge, harness design software proficiency, and strong regulatory and financial judgment.

Owns Zipline’s configuration management framework across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and field service. Establishes part-numbering, revision control, BOM structures, variant management, effectivity, release governance, and traceability standards. Defines PLM functional requirements, leads UAT, resolves product-data issues across PLM and ERP systems, and drives cross-functional improvements that reduce release errors and engineering change cycle time. Requires strong hardware product lifecycle, configuration management, and cross-functional leadership experience.

Lead the electrical design and development of high-reliability embedded systems for drone charging and docking infrastructure. Own designs from requirements and schematic capture through PCB layout, validation, production, certification, and field deployment. Drive architecture, trade studies, risk reduction, and system integration while collaborating with mechanical, embedded, reliability, systems, manufacturing, and supplier teams. Occasional travel supports supplier visits, deployments, and field validation.

Lead the electrical design and development of high-performance power electronics for drone charging and docking systems, from requirements and architecture through schematic capture, PCB layout, validation, production, certification, and deployment. Collaborate with mechanical, embedded, reliability, and systems teams; conduct trade studies, resolve field issues, and improve system designs. The role requires hands-on expertise in AC-DC and DC-DC conversion, battery charging, high-voltage semiconductors, digital communications, lab testing, and electrical safety standards.

Own electrical subsystems for Zipline’s long-range autonomous aircraft, from architecture, schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, and validation through production and field support. Design electronics such as processors, communication systems, battery systems, motor drives, and power supplies. Lead trade studies, risk reduction, system integration, reliability testing, manufacturing support, certification, and troubleshooting while collaborating with firmware, mechanical, systems, manufacturing, and operations teams.

Owns the industrialization, validation, release, and sustainment of electro-mechanical assembly lines for aircraft, docks, and logistics hardware. Designs tooling and workstations, leads PFMEA and process validation, improves yield, throughput, capability, and cost, and resolves production issues. Partners cross-functionally on DFM, capacity planning, procurement, commissioning, and production scaling while training technicians and supporting critical site ramps.

Leads mechanical engineering strategy and a player-coach team for autonomous aircraft and ground systems. Owns mechanical architecture, product roadmaps, requirements, safety and reliability analysis, design reviews, testing, production readiness, and field deployment. Partners across product, systems, manufacturing, suppliers, and operations to balance performance, manufacturability, serviceability, cost, and schedule. Develops engineers while driving resolution of complex design, production, and field issues.

Build relationships with local government officials, monitor policy and regulatory proposals, support permitting and approvals, lead site visits and public events, coordinate advocacy efforts, and represent Zipline in community and industry settings. The role focuses on enabling autonomous drone delivery launches and expansion across Texas and other markets while addressing public concerns about safety, privacy, sound, infrastructure, and community impact.

Owns day-to-day accounts payable accuracy for Zipline’s Côte d’Ivoire operations. Reviews, codes, approves, documents, and records vendor invoices; resolves invoice and payment discrepancies; maintains audit-ready records; reconciles AP transactions; and prepares close-ready schedules supporting financial reporting, tax preparation, statutory filings, and compliance. The role works with vendors, budget owners, operational teams, and finance stakeholders in English and French.

Design and develop C++ firmware for aircraft microcontrollers, communication interfaces, reusable platform components, real-time performance, fault handling, monitoring, and diagnostics. Build Rust-based tooling and software-in-the-loop simulations to validate firmware for autonomous aircraft systems. Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, embedded Linux, and systems engineers in an onsite internship focused on safety-critical deployed systems.

Design and develop C++ firmware for aircraft microcontrollers, communication interfaces, reusable platform components, real-time performance, fault handling, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Build Rust-based tools and software-in-the-loop simulations to validate firmware. Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, embedded Linux, and systems engineers. This is a full-time, onsite internship in South San Francisco from January through April or May 2027.

Designs, fabricates, commissions, validates, and improves mechanical crash-safety test equipment for batteries and aircraft hardware. Responsibilities include structural fixtures, containment systems, high-force actuation, engineering analysis, CAD documentation, operator safety systems, instrumentation integration, troubleshooting, validation testing, and supplier coordination.

Own the technical direction of Zipline’s integrations platform by designing SDKs, connector frameworks, APIs, development tools, and reliability practices. Build scalable backend and frontend integration capabilities, establish architecture and compatibility standards, enable self-service development, improve launch repeatability, and support enterprise partner implementations. Lead technical reviews, mentor engineers, collaborate across Product and Commercial teams, and maintain production reliability through observability, incident response, and automation.

Support Zipline’s corporate tax team with tax law research, compliance activities, financial data gathering, reconciliations, workpapers, filing deadline tracking, tax notices, audit support, and process improvement. Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Operations, business teams, and external advisors while gaining practical experience in global corporate tax operations.

Own marketplace strategy and operations initiatives spanning performance monitoring, pricing, growth, selection, supply-demand matching, and expansion. Build dashboards and marketplace health reports, diagnose performance issues, develop action plans, coordinate cross-functional execution, and measure results. The role also establishes scalable operating processes and supports aircraft allocation and capacity decisions across Zipline’s global delivery network.

Leads Zipline’s inbound logistics network across Africa, overseeing freight, customs, warehouses, batteries, hardware, construction materials, vendor controls, and landed costs. Manages logistics analysts across Rwanda, Ghana, Nigeria, and Côte d’Ivoire; coordinates with global supply chain teams; establishes service-level agreements and customs processes; reduces emergency air freight; and ensures accurate documentation, valuation, reconciliation, and reliable delivery to operating and build sites.

Own the technical vision, design, deployment, operation, and maintenance of enterprise audiovisual systems across conference rooms, event spaces, and office displays. Responsibilities include Q-SYS and comparable platform engineering, DSP and signal routing, event support, digital signage, AV networking, monitoring, documentation, vendor management, system commissioning, standards development, and technical escalation. The role also establishes scalable operating procedures, reliability metrics, preventive maintenance, and consistent user experiences.

Own end-to-end site acquisition across Central US markets, from pipeline creation and qualification through negotiation, contracting, signature, and handoff. Source sites, assess zoning and constructability risks, manage LOIs and definitive agreements with Legal, maintain CRM forecasts, improve acquisition processes, and build lasting site-host relationships. The role requires high-volume outreach, strong negotiation, disciplined execution, and up to 20% domestic travel.

Own end-to-end site acquisition across the Central Region, from sourcing and qualification through negotiation, contracting, signature, and handoff. Build high-volume pipelines, negotiate leases and licenses, lead early site diligence, manage CRM forecasting, and coordinate with legal, engineering, finance, and operations. Maintain site-host relationships after signing and improve acquisition playbooks, broker programs, and processes. Domestic travel up to 20% is expected.
