Supervises electricians and other employees performing electrical installation, repair, and maintenance on bridges, pump houses, and related structures. Plans wiring layouts, interprets blueprints, tests electrical systems, diagnoses equipment failures, prepares field reports, assigns work, supports planning and meetings, and advises management on equipment safety. Travel to various work locations may be required.

Assists management of Wayne County’s assigned counsel system, supervising assignment and defender-support staff, overseeing attorney qualification, performance review, caseload compliance, payment validation, and voucher approvals. Supports MIDC compliance planning, cost analysis, budgeting, automated case assignment, holistic defense resources, reporting, policy development, and stakeholder meetings. Requires a Michigan-licensed attorney with criminal law and felony trial experience.

Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, tests, and repairs steam, hot water, heating, refrigeration, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing systems in county facilities. Reads blueprints, lays out pipe systems, measures and cuts piping, installs fittings and controls, performs welding and fabrication, conducts pressure and hydrostatic testing, replaces components, and inspects systems for safety and performance.

Provides legal representation and counsel to Wayne County, officials, departments, boards, and commissions. Handles litigation, hearings, appeals, legal research, motions, briefs, contracts, compliance advice, policy drafting, client communication, and mental health docket appearances. Maintains case records in Prolaw and advises clients on legislation, regulations, risks, and legal strategy.

Leads Wayne County’s indigent defense system, overseeing personnel, budgets, grants, compensation, vendor contracts, compliance with Michigan Indigent Defense Commission standards, policy development, training, reporting, and stakeholder relationships. The Director sets organizational strategy and culture, manages legal and operational risk, and represents the department in local, state, and national criminal justice reform initiatives.

Manages Wayne County’s investigator and expert services program for assigned criminal defense counsel. Consults on case needs, coordinates investigators and experts, approves services and payments, prepares reports, trains counsel, monitors compliance, maintains provider and case management processes, compiles program data, and supports budgeting and performance oversight.

Provides crisis intervention, behavioral stabilization, welfare checks, safety inspections, emergency response, juvenile transportation, incident reporting, and trauma-informed de-escalation within a 24/7 juvenile detention facility. The role responds to disturbances, escapes, fires, evacuations, natural disasters, and mental health crises while maintaining resident safety, professionalism, and facility security.

Supervise and provide custodial care, guidance, recreation, counseling, and crisis intervention for youth residents in a juvenile detention facility. Maintain records of activities and behavior, enforce institutional procedures, supervise meals and daily tasks, report incidents and injuries, maintain supplies, cooperate with investigations, and transport juveniles as needed. The role requires shift flexibility, mandatory overtime, medical examinations, and clearance through child protection and central registry systems.
