Ultium Cells LLC is a joint venture between General Motors and LG Energy Solution that manufactures battery cells for electric vehicles. Its U.S. facilities produce large-format pouch cells using nickel-cobalt-manganese-aluminum (NCMA) chemistry, supplying GM’s North American EV assembly and strategic partners. The company emphasizes sustainable manufacturing, including recycling production scrap, conserving water, and producing advanced NCMA cells with less cobalt.
