Leads complex SEND mediation, disagreement resolution, and Tribunal appeal cases for the Local Authority. Responsibilities include preparing legal submissions, representing the council at hearings, advising partners, managing statutory complaints and information requests, analysing performance trends, supporting quality assurance, and driving service improvements. The role requires detailed knowledge of SEND legislation, Tribunal procedures, case law, statutory deadlines, negotiation, risk assessment, and multi-agency collaboration.

Support Thurrock’s School Attendance Support Team by advising schools on attendance management, engaging elective home education families, managing Children Missing Education cases, and pursuing statutory action where required. Responsibilities include home visits, reviewing evidence, preparing court paperwork and penalty notices, supporting safeguarding through MASH involvement, and contributing specialist advice to council policies and strategies.

Support management and conservation of council parks and countryside sites, carry out practical habitat and tree work, operate and maintain machinery, ensure H&S compliance, supervise staff and volunteers, run visitor engagement and educational activities, and deputise for the Senior Ranger as required.

Develop and deliver communications supporting organisational transformation and change programmes. Create clear, engaging content across multiple channels, plan campaigns, translate complex information into actionable messages, and advise colleagues and senior leaders. The role involves managing competing priorities, building relationships across services and project teams, and helping employees and stakeholders feel informed, involved, and prepared for change.

Provide specialist educational advice within a multi-agency child protection team to identify and address barriers to attendance, attainment and inclusion for vulnerable children. Work with schools, families and partner agencies, contribute to safeguarding meetings, analyse educational data, support access to services, and challenge providers to improve outcomes.

Design and build BI reports and dashboards, transform raw data using SQL, collaborate with stakeholders across Place services, provide actionable insights to inform local government decisions, and support the Business Intelligence team. Basic DBS check required.

Lead and deliver Trading Standards enforcement across consumer protection, product safety and complex investigations. Manage varied caseloads, collaborate with local/regional/national partners, mentor junior staff, and support service priorities including inspections, compliance activity and regulatory enforcement to protect consumers and ensure legal compliance.

Lead tobacco and vape enforcement operations, coordinate intelligence-led multi-agency activity, investigate illicit trade, conduct civil and criminal enforcement, manage a demanding caseload, engage the community and partners, and support training and development within the Trading Standards team.
